Mirrors on the wall

The house we moved in to has 7 gold framed full length mirrors hanging on the wall going downstairs. They do add light to the living room that is open to that stairway and I suppose they also make it seem larger. We are ready to paint and having a discussion about those mirrors. I just do not like them....they seem sooooo outdated, but other people that have been here say they do like them. Any thoughts on this? AND any ideas of what we could put there instead?
