I'm thinking about purchasing one of these since I seem to be having issues with regular mattresses. I currently have a fairly expensive name brand pillow top which makes my back and arthritis pain worse than ever. Any recommendations from those of you having one of these. Alo, really would like something a little more reasonable than Tempurpedic.

We purchased a memory foam mattress about two years ago and it was our first. We spent lots of time looking, and ended up at Denver Mattress Company. They sell Tempurpedic as well as other brands of memory foam. I'm sorry I cannot remember the exact name brand of the one we bought, but it was about half the price of the national brand, and I think we paid about $1800 for a queen size.

I have arthritis and back issues and this is much better than our last bed, and it is holding up very well. It is made in USA. I would recommend that you do look at other brands and their warranties, as there is so much choice out there. This company also had a warranty period that we could exchange the product if we didn't like it. We are not at all sorry, to this point, that we didn't get the Tempurpedic.

I have arthritis and have had experience with two memory foam mattresses. The one in this house we've had for 8 years, its a Serta, the sheep people. I always get Serta and Sealy mixed up, but we got a free sheep with the mattress. Anyway, I love this thing. I can lay on my back without pain, that does not happen on a regular mattress or my couch. Both cause back pain. It was $1200.00 with the box spring. I also looked at Tempurpedic and I don't see any difference in the two. We also had a Costco memory foam at our previous house, it was softer than this one, but I liked that one, too. DH liked it better, he says this one is too firm. But for arthritis sufferers, I personally think memory foam is the way to go.

I would caution you against buying one of those super cheap memory foam mattresses. I did simply because my pillow top mattress hurt my back soooo much and it was all I could afford. It has helped my back pain, but the memory foam doesn't breathe so I get super hot at night, to the point I am sweating through my pajamas! Make sure you get one that doesn't retain the body heat.

I had to replace a top-of-the-line Serta purchased at Sears with a ten year warranty after only three and a half-years because it developed sag in the middle and was exacerbating my bad back and causing excruciating pain.

Google and research online as much as you can. All of these pillow tops are problematic as the manufacturers do all they can to not stand behind the warranty and in California, you have the "mattress inspector" to contend with when he comes out to photograph the sag.

I ended up buying a Beauty Rest memory foam mattress and box spring at Sit-N-Sleep in Glendale, CA. It has some kind of gel that is supposed to help keep it cool but I still find it hotter than the other kind. I've had it a little over a year and like it so far. I've been able to get rid of the back pain and am sleeping much better. I also purchased some of the "My Pillows" that I really like.

Prepare yourself for sticker shock but consider it a necessity for your health and it won't seem as bad.

We have two memory foam toppers, and love them. One came from the Q and the other from Target. If you but a topper don't get a thin one, I would suggest at a minimum 3". The one from Target is a big nicer than the one from the Q, it is a gel foam topper, I don't remember the brand name. You could buy a topper and not purchase a new mattress.

I recently purchased a memory foam topper from Costco. Around $140 for Queen size. I love it. Couldn't afford whole mattress and wasn't sure that was what I wanted so this was an excellent way to try it out. I think mine is 4"". Makes a lot of difference.

I have had a Tempurpedic now for six years and love it. I, too, have back problems and this is the best mattress I have ever owned. There are many different models in their line with different price levels. To me, it was worth the price.

Consumer reports rated Costco Memory gel foam mattress a best buy and have it a good review.It is on sale now I think. I do own and LOVE the gel topper!!

I am looking at the Novaform ""Serafina"" from Costco. This is a 14 inch gel memory foam mattress which is Med Firm. I'm afraid the real soft ones would not be good with our back issues. Anyone have one of these?
