We recently bought a Restonic queen mattress.  It is not as firm as it felt in the showroom...sleeping on them is a whole new thing...  Any suggestions for helping this new mattress to be more firm?  Can something be placed between the mattress and the boxspring?

A solid wood board between mattress and box spring should help.

Is it possible to exchange the mattresses for firmer?

@IMW is right about using a board between the mattress and box spring, something like plywood that covers most of the area.  I've done it with an older mattress set and it worked fine.

But you shouldn't have to do that with a brand-new set.  You should look into an exchange.

Return it.  When I replaced my last mattress, I spent more time than I ever had researching mattresses.  I found one and visited a handful of times before I ordered it.  After the first night sleeping on it, I said no way.  Called the store and said they can have it back.  They said I had to keep it 30 days.  Day 31 I called back.  Replacement mattress was just right.

My Grandma had to have a thin board between mattress & box spring, lowes/home depot will cut it if you give them measurements but my daughter just got a new mattress 2 weeks ago they said you have 60 days to try it out & if you don't like it they will take it back with a small fee to return it. You may have that if you don't know call the store tell them the date you purchased it and see what they say. My daughter loves it so it's a keeper.

@bargainsgirl   Do you have the option to return or exchange?  Usually your are given a certain period to return or exchange for something firmer to your liking.  I would definitely call and talk to the person that sold it to you.  Good luck. Cat Very Happy

@bargainsgirl

Try exchanging the mattress. Is it Firm OR medium Firm?
