@Bridgegal--I bought my mattress from Helix out of NY city about 2 years ago and have been very pleased with it. I bought the full size for $750, with free shipping and a 100 night trial period to sleep on it or they would refund my $ and come get it for free, if I wasn't happy with it. At that time I was able to have them custom make it for my body--it took 2 weeks to get to me and from the first night---I slept very well and still do today. Did alot of research and found better reviews about Helix so I bought it. I think that Target now sells the caspar brand mattress--maybe check that out as it is so close to everyone these days. Would be very convienent to actually look at it and feel it in person.

Has anyone really had good luck with these?   I've read so many reviews and so many that loved it at first but it didn't hold up for more than a year, or got lumpy or or or.    We are going to need a new mattress in a couple of months and at this point I'm sticking with the old traditional mattress unless I can be convinced otherwise.

@Bridgegal  I'm sure some of that has to do with the brand and specifics of the given mattress.  I have bragged on our "mattress in a box" on several other threads.  My DH and I have had a few box spring and mattress sets over the course of our marriage.  Several years ago we purchased an expensive Stearns & Foster - hated it from the start.  We should have returned it but didn't.  Instead we bought topper, throwing good money after bad.  It's was a nice topper but only did so much.  We eventually wanted a new mattress and wanted to move from a queen to a king.  I did lots of research.  We ended up purchasing a Classic Brands 14" Gramercy Hybrid from Wayfair.  I encourage you to look it up on Wayfair and read the reviews - I've seen it on Amazon too.  As a hybrid, it's a combination of springs and memory foam.  We've had the mattress for slightly over two years and we still have that "ahh moment" every night climbing into bed.  We really love it.  There are no lumps or dips, and bedding fits perfectly - no crushed corners and the fitted mattress cover and sheet stay on.  This year we purchased the identical mattress as a gift for two of our kids & their spouses.  They all love it as well.  I was amazed that a $500 mattress could be so incredibly comfortable yet supportive, and so far better than the mattress we paid 4.5X as much for in that S & F.  The hybrid mattress can go on top of a traditional box spring, if you prefer.  We opted to use a smart base instead.  I'm really happy with that as well as it is very secure and provides lots of under bed storage.

@Bridgegal@.  Not to change the subject, but did you ever see the extensive itinerary for a New Mexico trip that I posted for you?  @just bee and I spent a lot of time compiling it and I never saw a mention from you.

      OH NO, I didn't.  I'm so sorry and thank you for taking the time to do that.   We had a crazy summer packing , driving across country and moving.   Is it in Travel ?     I'll go there immediately and look for it.  We got to Santa Fe on Sat. Sept 1 and I know your itinerary will be great.  Thank you!!!!!!!!

@Bridgegal

Costco has many mattress choices on-line and they back it. When I bought my new Queen mattress one year ago - I went to the local mattress store - where I purchased 7 mattresses previously. I like to ask the salesman questions and lay on the bed - even for a moment. He said I need to try it out and could exchange it after 30 day (thru 90 days). I love my mattress. I also needed the box spring to be several inches lower - which he ordered. Can't imagine ordering a mattress in a box. When u buy from a mattress store (not a furniture store), prices are negotiable. I also got free shipping.

       Kachina624:  I've been looking and looking and cannot find that thread.   Do you remember where it was posted?   I really want to find it and read it.

I have a Tulo mattress...love it, I'm out like a light within minutes of hitting the bed. They are sold through Mattress Firm stores. They come in soft, medium and firm choices and I believe you can try them out in person at the stores.

We have three mattresses in a box. All different brands, the oldest being ten years old......we love them. Not one problem with any of them.
