I don't post much but hoping for recommendations. I have so much trouble with mattresses and sleep comfort. Just got rid of an expensive pillow top mattress that failed after barely 5 yrs - got the sag in the middle and I kept waking up with lower back pain.

I just bought another mattress- "plush" that still seems a bit firm. Ran out and bought an expensive 3 in Memory foam topper at JC Penney. It feels comfortable at first but my back is sinking in too much and my lower back still aches in the morning. This is driving me nuts!

I think 3 in was probably overkill. Does anyone know of a comfortable but firm topper that will support without the "sink". ? I am overwhelmed by choice-Amazon, Overstock, etc has so many.  is memory foam the answer or not?

Thank you for any advice!

Four nights of great sleeping!  Just bought QVC H216884 Serta Perfect Luxury Queen Mattress Top = $55 now - was special last week so little less.  LOVE this topper.  4 years ago bought QVC Serta pillow top bed - never had pillow before but couple years pillow seemed to need help.  Bought a topper from J C Penney - that was a disappoint so bought the 'egg crate' memory one.  Very comfy but started getting pressure points that woke me 4 times during night.  Last week saw the Serta Lux topper - nothing to loose - and it's wonderful - so far.  Stuffing in each sewed down cloud quilting.  Go and watch the video with Jane and the vendor - don't know how it will be in 4 years - but getting great sleep now and no pressure points.  No - won't buy from Amazon, etc., or Penney again unless it was a Serta.

@Sweetcheeks723 ~

I have hip pain.  A few months ago, I bought a SERTA Cradling Cloud Matress Topper Set.  It's 2" of memory foam, and comes with a 2" matress pad to go over the foam.  10 year warranty.

I did NOT expect it to help, as I have tried so many different things.  No More Pain When I Get Up!

I have a sleep number bed, but I needed something more.  This was it for me.

Hoping you can find what works for you.   HTH

I would love to get a mattress topper, however my mattress is so thick that I'm afraid I'd never be able to get the fitted sheets to work over the topper and the mattress.  I was very tempted by the recent TSV, but didn't cave because I was doubtful it would work with my thick mattress.

@Sweetcheeks723, I bought my mattress topper for my king bed at Costco store.  I think it was Nova Form.   My mattress was too firm and the topper was exactly what I needed.  Highly recommend and if you don’t like it, you can return it.  LM

Afraid the topper side and end won't go over your mattress?  The QVC Serta is a huge pocket and I have a Serta thick mattress AND the pillow top.  No problem with stretch to spare?   Love mine - ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Thank you so much for your input! @fthuntSmiley Happy It does look nice and at great price. I am wondering if the extra padding of your pillow top is what really makes this work for you...?  I think I am trying to create my own pillow top feel with multiple layers. I am still debating about a 1 or 2 inch egg crate or memory foam pad and possibly this over it..

Thank you @Lilysmom for the Costco suggestion! Smiley Happy

I also looked at the Serta one on the Q.  I could go for that combo.  I also have a CuddleEwe wool mattress topper.  It is about 3" think of pure wool.  It is not cheap, but mine is 3 years old and great.  I take it off when I change the sheets, fluff it and let it sun.  You would think wool would make you hot but it doesn't.  It regulates your temperature to keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter.  I have fibromyalgia and so much morning stiffness/pain that I did shell out around $350 back then for a queen.  The price has gone up, but it is worth it.  I have a waterproof breathable mattress pad cover to keep up the warranty on it.  Their website sells them too but I got one from Amazon for less.  It does work as my cat vomited one day while I was out at work.  I was so livid, but the cover protected my new investment, though I had extra laundry to do!  My parents also bought one for their beds because it really does help.  I have a low thyroid and also get night sweats from it.  This doesn't add to any heat issues but dang if you can't stop that night sweats.  Cold shower and sheet change!  I have two of the mattress pad covers just so I can change it when I change the sheets in the middle of the night!

Here is what it looks like.
