Check the warranty on your new bed. Some bed warranties say you need to place a protective cover on it if you ever need to use that warranty in the future. Stains could void the warranty in other words.

I just had a new mattress delivered today.  While I don't see anything in the warranty about a mattress protector, mine comes with a 120 night sleep trial.  Part of the conditions for exchanging after the 120 nights is that you "have kept it in like-new condition by using a mattress protector purchased at the same time as the mattress purchase".

I've always used a matress cover.  Warranty reasons and protection reasons.  Worth it.

Re: Mattress Covers do use or not?

I've always used a mattress cover. I just bought a new mattress in November and bought the Serta Total Protection Mattress Pad at JC Penny's. It's very nice and doesn't make noise like some waterproof ones do.

I've washed it many times and is still very nice.

Mattresses are so expensive. It's a lot cheaper to buy a new pad than a mattress if an accident should happen.

Just had a new Sealy Posterpedic queen bed delivered today and realized I do not have a mattress cover for it. I had mattress cover on the old memory foam bed that was flipped to death. And, in a quick google search, it appears to be optional.

No kids or animals will be sleeping in the bed. Just me, myself and I.

Do you use a mattress cover? If so, do you have a recommendation for a good easy to get on and off cover for washing?

Thank you all who have an opinion. These forums have been great to bounce things off. Much appreciated.

I've always used mattress covers and pillow protectors on every one I've had.   Always.

I recommend this mattress pad from Walmart. It's not in the store, but it ships free. It has just enough fill, but isn't heavy, thick, or poofy. It's easy to get on and off. I have a king size, and it fits in my top load washer. I've had mine for three years, and it's still holding up well. It reminds me of the kind of mattress pads I grew up with. I have a Sealy hybrid mattress, and I like that this pad doesn't change how my mattress feels.

Re: Mattress Covers do use or not?

You might not need one, but I'd suggest you get a mattress pad similar to the one in the previous post. Those that are lightweight and easy to wash are my favorites. It adds a bit of security in case something spills (or leaks).

I can't imagine not using a mattress pad, and no you don't need to wash them that much if it is just a single person maybe once every six months. Same for pillow protectors, I put new pillows in a pillow protector just like I put on a pad on the mattress and wash them all at the same time.

Re: Mattress Covers do use or not?

I would never not have a mattress cover for all the reasons previously mentioned.

I have a Casper mattress and purchased one of their covers online.   I also have a Concierge cover in my spare bedroom I purchased on HSN.   Both are nice quality.
