Name brand matching doesn't bother me.  In a way the color does.  When we built our home many years ago we purchased all the same color appliances.  Back then almond was the big color.  Anyway when all were delivered my washer was stark white.  It did bug me for many years as they were in the guest bath but instead of going through all the nonsense of being without a washer while they fixed their error, I just bit the bullet and learned to live with it.

Since we downsized and bought new appliances for our town house the only "off" thing I have is a white microwave (it was brand new put in by the previous owner) with slate colored stove, frig and dishwasher.  Oddly, the microwave doesn't really stick out because all of my woodwork and trim is white.

I do like my large kitchen appliances to all have the same color but brand does not need to match for me. I had all white appliances until a couple of years ago.  I needed a new dishwasher and shopped at my local home store. The only white dishwasher they had was an apartment sized one.  Most of the selection were stainless and a couple black. I was bummed that I couldn't purchase the same color as my other appliances.

I would't be bothered at all.  To me, it's more noticeable when the major appliances aren't the same color, like the range and the refrigerator.

My microwave also just died.  When I went to purchase from the store I purchased the last one their recommendation was to match the microwave to the Stove since they are on top of each other. I had also purchased both at the same time 12 years ago. The concern was not to match to the remaining appliances.  I personally didn't care to have the same brand but did go with the same brand and model which I had originally.  For reference my stove and microwave are Frigedaire, dishwasher Whirlpool and fridge is Kenmore.  They are all stainless to give a standard look.

I would like to have my kitchen appliances all match--my former  kitchen had matching appliances when it was new in 1986--chose bisque color--then a few years ago I got a new dishwasher in stainless steel.Kind of thru me off a little as it was new and the others were almost 20 years old---but then I sold the place and didn't care anymore--

I haven't had a working oven in years. The stove top works though. I use my Nesco oven for Thanksgiving turkey and I have an Oster countertop oven. A matching appliance would not be a priority. Two daughters live nearby so I can use their ovens if need be.

After my relative  refurbished her kitchen  , she decided to buy all new matching appliances  with GE . Well after the 1st yr she wished that she had kept her old  refrigerator  as she had problems with the new matching one.

I think its relatively important appliances match in color if you want a cohesive look but matching in style would be unimportant to me.  I doubt most people would even notice.

Color match is also important when selling a house.  Nobody wants to buy a property with a variety of unmatched colors in the large appliances.
