This is a condo, in a famous building, the Sierra Towers, in L.A.  Someone well known owned it, but she never moved in...  even though she went so far as to have it gutted.

Spoiler:

Spoiler
It was Lindsay Lohan, apparently during her more turbulent years.  The pictures in this thread are of the apartment after it was bought by antiques dealer Lee Stanton, who filled it with antiques, and a few modern artifacts as well.

I stopped in my tracks, b/c in an article, it was billed as "Lindsay Lohan's old apartment",  and when I saw the decor I said, that does not look like an apartment she would have, especially back then!   Let's say it exudes a more traditional outlook...

Stanton, the current owner, has a considerable array of English and French antiques, which he has punctuated with the occasional modern/industrial touch, like the metal ceiling light.

It was originally 3 bedrooms, but the owner combined two of them for a larger master suite.  The condo has a 40 ft. terrace, and stunning panoramic views from the Pacific to Mt. Wilson.

Thought this bathroom was interesting, with its exotic wood, and intricate tile pattern.

The Sierra Towers has quite a reputation for show biz residents, which have included Sidney Poitier, Cher,  David Geffen, Elton John, Joan Collins, Courteney Cox.

Found this to be a fun curiosity.   While this particular condo wouldn't be my favorite, the views are endlessly enticing, and the famous building has contained quite a roster of talent...

Re: MYSTERY CONDO IN CALIFORNIA

Hi, @Oznell !  Everything's fine till the earthquake hits!  I went through a number of them while I lived in Orange County.

Still there's a lot to be desired about a place with great indoor/outdoor living and spectacular views.

Re: MYSTERY CONDO IN CALIFORNIA

It's on Doheny & Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood, right at the border to Beverly Hills.

At first, I thought this was the building a friend's dentist had his office in, but this looks strictly residential to me.  Huh.  Guess not. The dentist's office is definitely in that area, though ...  and that situation was a whole other scandal.

Nice photos  @Oznell .   Thanks.

Love that terrace!!  It's too big to be called a balcony.

@Oznell Thanks for that post.  Great example of what someone with a lifetime of knowledge and money and a desire to collect might do.

Those rooms are not something I would expect a decorator coming into an empty space for which the owner has few personal possessions to feature.  I don't want to live in those rooms, but find them very interesting.

Oznell I forgot how wonderful and enlightening your posts are. This is a gorgeous apartment. I would not decorate that way. Love the deck and view.

Re: MYSTERY CONDO IN CALIFORNIA

The word that comes to my mind first is austere.

And I would never want to live in a highrise no matter the views-fires from one resident's carelessness, or other things.

As always, @Oznell, whether liking or not, interesting and fun to look at.

I love the floor to ceiling windows. The view is magnificent. The décor is not my thing. While I think it is striking. I am a modern girl. I don’t like the hard ultra-modern, but I do like clean sharp lines, and no clutter. That balcony is spectacular.

@MJDinVegas ,  ha, that was my first thought-- earthquakes!   Wonder what the building codes are on these buildings.  And this particular condo is on the 27th floor!   Still, a lot of interesting history packed in a place like that...

Re: MYSTERY CONDO IN CALIFORNIA

I like the terrace most of all. And I noticed the tracks in the ceiling. Made me like it even more.  I am assuming that half the terrace could be enclosed, if needed.

I would be spending most of my time out on the terrace.
