MEMORY FOAM MATTRESS QUESTION

Does anyone own a memory foam mattress and use a waterproof pad/protector on it? Does it interfere with how the memory foam adjusts to your body temp.? Does it still provide the same amount of support for the spine or does the mattress stay firmer or become softer than it does without a waterproof pad?
