Re: MACHINE WASHING A COTTON BATH RUG

We got a couple of black bugs for the bathroom and I wash them on delicate in cold water. I just looked on Amazon and they sell extra large mess bags for laundry.good luck. We have a ge washer with the most gentle delicate cycle I ever saw on a washer.t cleans with very slight movements.

Question, how do you keep the cotton rug from slipping on the tile floor?

TIA

@Sunshine Kate- I cut a non-slip rug pad (rubber-like material) to a size just a bit smaller than the rug and the rug just sits on top of it.  For the most part it stays in place very well.

Re: MACHINE WASHING A COTTON BATH RUG

I only use cotton bath rugs now.  I had Charisma plush rugs with the latex backing but after a few washings i had to toss them. I have never had any problems with shedding or loose threads left in the washer from the many cotton ones i have had over the years. I love the cotton ones but they are really heavy when they get soaking wet in the washer. I only wash them one at a time and worry since my machine is several years old that spinning on high would be more than it could handle. I let it spin on med for a few minutes to get rid of most of the water, then hang it out over a patio chair back and in our inferno heat right now it dries in a couple of hours or less. I think the shedding may depend upon what kind of weave is in the rug.

Take it to a laundromat. I wouldn't put a cotton rug in my machine. Might ruin my machine.

@Sunshine Kate

I keep my bath mat hanging over the shower door handle (the handle is horizontal).  I only lay the mat on the floor before stepping into the shower.  After I'm done, I hang it back on the shower door handle to dry.  I've never had them slip around while I am standing on them while drying  myself off.

I don't keep them on the floor 24/7 like I did with the bath rugs (those with the gripper backing) I used to use.  If I didn't have a shower door handle, I would attach another towel bar to the wall and hang the bath mat on that in between uses.

Re: MACHINE WASHING A COTTON BATH RUG

 I have a really large washing machine and wash 3 big bath mats at the same time, this keeps it from getting unbalanced.  I then throw them in the dryer, I always buy the rugs without the vinyl backing.
