I'm still on the fence about the TSV...I'm tempted by that Slate color. I thought the 17" would be the size for me until the vendor said that the small one ( 17") takes a C battery. My other L. candles that take D batteries only last 2 mons. I wonder how long the C batteries would last? Any ideas? TIA

Re: Luminara and C batteries?

I have luminaras that take C batts and they last as long as the D batt candles.

Do the Luminara Candles put out much light? I don't have any. Just wondering how well they would put out light during a power outage?

I've bought the slate color in the small lanterns, remember when they had the ones in all the colors. It's really more to the green side not like a slate blue really means blue gray.

@country gal, The batteries I've used in my 12" Luminara Heritage lantern (it takes 2 C batteries) last and last.  I remember that I kept up with how many hours on my first set of batteries.  I know that it was over the claimed amount.  I was amazed.   I think I heard 500 hours on these lanterns, which is what I think my lantern claims as well.  I think I got over 3 months out of a set, using the 5 hour timer daily.  Some of the older Luminaras got only half (or perhaps even less than half) of that battery life.  I don't think you will be disappointed in the C batteries' life.

@Nightowlz, I'd say yes, they do.  I find them to be brighter than any of my other flameless candles.

@SHOPR Thx. I guess I should buy a few to have on hand for that reason. Always looking for a good source of light without fire to use during power outages. That generally only happens around here when we have ice storms.

We use ours a lot during storms and outages. I find that just two in a big room or one in a bedroom gives just enough light to find your way around.

If you want to see better, then add another one or two per big room, and you can see fairly well (not enough to read or anything, but makes it very safe to move around even with multiple people in the room.

One in each bathroom is enough to see to use the facilities, a couple if you were going to try to bathe or something.

Re: Luminara and C batteries?

I've been using the Ni-Mh rechargeables in some of my candles and lights. These batteries have a low idle discharge so they stay charged over time when not in use and they don't take long to recharge.
