@jubilant

I've heard of low country, but not the "style".  What determines it as low country?

It looks relaxing but it could use some color.  I do love the wall of french doors & windows.    I'd remove one of the tables though.  They look too bunched together.

I hadn't heard the term Low Country Style till I came upon this picture. Oznell gives a description of it first in post    #6. Posters here seem to have different takes on it.

Yes, I agree a pop of color is needed.  I'm probably not the person to ask.  I don't read a lot of decorating magazines.  I just liked the color combination and the "not too busy" look.  I am choosing blue for a pop of color as I already have a blue chair that both DH and I really like.

Personally @sceniccoast  I don't see 'low country style' as any kind of unique style of decor... Essentially, some are defining it as a laid back, understated style that looks collected over time, but that, to me, is hardly anything earth-shattering and it's certainly not unique to the low country of the American south... Low country architectural details are a different matter... Lots of properties built in the south's low country manifest certain tweaks designed to catch breezes and promote cool air, given the region's hot humid weather... There definitely are architectural elements that at one time were unique to the low country...

The Low Country is where we plan to retire!  I will have al more color in my living room, but I like it!

I've heard of a Low Country Boil but not Low Country Style...LOL!  This room has great bones but it needs a tad bit more color and some prints to suit me.  I can't get over the fireplace....it looks so dull without any artwork or candlesticks, etc. on the mantle.  At least put a TV there.

I grew up in / with  Low Country Style.

It is not generally a drab washed out neutral style at least not the way my Family and DH's family do it.  Could this be a photo choice like sepia?

low country

This is more what I think of, MINUS the fur rug.

More of look that grew together over time.
