The "after" is a better layout.....and they covered that glaring arcadia window.........

I couldn't have WHITE, tho.......I live in a city of  blowing dirt (!!)

The furniture in front of the sliding door in the second picture makes no sense to me. 

I like the placement of the furniture in the first picture but dislike all the decor.

The second picture is way too closed up.

I would start over.

Too much white in the after, glaringly so.  I prefer the before because it's cozy and welcoming as well as colorful but today it looks HOT.  I'll just spend the day at the pool.

@lolakimono  To me, the second choice is too glaringly WHITE! I would need my sunglasses.  The first is more calm and inviting, although the wall art has to go.  Thank you for an interesting post.

I think its hard to compare because they are from different angles.  

The 2nd picture of the room looks bigger with bookshelves and the extension of the next room which we can't see in the first picture.

Except for the white furniture the second one.  More modern looking to me.

No matter where I'm living now, lighter is better.

The white version---very nice, however--not a fan of all white---but the first version is like a dark cave----funny but that room are the colors, sort of, that I had for years---makes me cringe now--am into the neutrals that can go with pops of color---LOVE the built ins
