I prefer the 1st room but pinks/plums are not my favorite decor colors.

I also don't care for rugs on top of rugs...1 layer is enough especially with area rugs.

I think it looks OK for wall to wall to have a throw or area rug on top but layered area rugs are not for me.

i don't dislike the 2nd room but the color of blue is not what I would choose for my own home. A pale blue is what I gravitate towards.

I was quite surprised this was a room from Ballard Deaigns, since I usually love everything they do. I am not a plum fan with the other colors in the room, but do like the picture on the wall above the sofa and the small chest by the sofa. Can't quite tell what is going on with the drapes...is the lining a chocolate color or is it a stripe?

That picture with the mauve chair in the lower corner (and the mauve pillow on the couch) displays of nice blend of colors. A real bonus is the room looks comfortable.

I'm not a fan of either living room but prefer the second one slightly more as it's a little more cohesive.  Except for the sofa, I don't really care for any of the furniture and decor items in the first room.  The sofa in the second room is doable as well.

I like room #1 with the exception of the chandelier.  I went to my favorite furniture store last week, and they had several pieces of velvet sofas and chairs that I loved.  It looks like velvet furniture is featured in both of your pictures.  They also had several green pieces in their rooms like yours have.  I really like the art above the sofa in the first room.

I like the color combo in #1, but not a fan of the room in furniture & accent choices. I actually have my "fun room" painted a mint green, it has a blush pink mini couch & dark wood other furniture. So I guess I kinda have this combo already (with my own personal twist)!

I love most blues, but don't like rust or terra cotta colors, so....the wall color looks nice to me in that picture.

I do agree it's nice to see something with color and not all monochromatic, so kudos to both rooms in expressing themselves and not afraid to use colors they like!!
