Kitchen with a vaulted ceiling decorating question....

I LOVE the vaulted ceilings in our home AND how our family room and kitchen are sort of one nice big area, which really works for us. We have been here a little over 2 years and I have blank walls in the kitchen still! SHOCKING, I know! I am talking about the area over the cupboards and the fridge and counters. Our home is totally neutral with tans and browns and blacks. Any idea of what would work? Anything I come up with just gets dwarfed up there and looks awful! I need a statement!!!
