I finally just went to Gel Pro mats. I have four of them in my kitchen and they work a lot better for me.

I bought a Gel Pro that they made with a real fabric covering, looks just like a rug. They only made them in one size (rather small) and have since discontinued them (Boo hoo for me!). I loved those, as they looked more like a traditional rug, not a vinyl mat type thing, and was hoping they'd expand the line. It must not have been popular, as they are almost gone now, but it is the best wearing thing (and added comfort of a Gel Pro) that I've ever found.

Oh wow! I probably would have loved that too, assuming they didn't have big, busy patterns. I guess the majority were not up for such a thing but it sounds like the perfect solution to me. I love my Gel Pro mats.

I'm not a happy chicken right now because I noticed, after the cleaning lady left last time, that one of them has a cut in it. I cannot be sure that she did that so I really can't say anything. She tends to be a bit on the careless side, but who knows for sure.

This may seem crazy but I have two bath rugs in my kitchen, nowadays you can get a nice bath rug in all types of colors and they are washable. So I often times have to bright yellow rugs, or two bright red rugs in my kitchen.

I have one in front of the stove and one in front of the sink. They don't slide around and they do work for me. I get mine from JcPenney.

I'd forgotten about that! I've done that in the past too. It seemed like the bath rugs always had way better skid-free stuff on the bottom than anything I ever saw that was sold as a 'kitchen rug'.

We don't use throw rugs in the kitchen because they're a safety hazard. If I wanted a psuedo-carpeted area in the kitchen the size that you need, I'd purchase indoor-outdoor carpet tiles. Some of them have nice designs on them, but must be adhesed to the floor.

I found mine at JCP.com

It is hard to find throw rugs for the kitchen that don't look like 'bathroom' rugs. I found 3 at jcp.com and kept them all since it is an item I had a hard time finding. Shipping was free and I was able to return the ones I didn't like directly to a store, so I saved on return postage.

I have tile in the kitchen and these don't slip or slide at ALL!
