We, too, have excellent quality solid wood cabinets and had them cleaned and refinished rather than replaced. The cabinet maker explained it would be hard to get better quality cabinets than what we have. It looks great and was not overly expensive. I was also pleased I didn't have to reorganize everything.

Before we sold our last house we took the solid wood cabinets, took off the doors, lightly sanded and put new finish and hardware. New countertops, looked great!
