I never had one, but I always thought they were cool. Of course, that's when kids actually climbed trees...

Did you have tree house envy as well?

My great grandparents had one built one for us. Ours was similar to the top red one in the OP. It was wired with electricity and even had cable TV. Comfortably fit 8 sleeping bags for all us grandkids. The only time they heard from us was when we ran out of food or wanted to use the bathroom!

@lolakimonoMy fort was a blanket draped over the dining room chairs, I used to spend hours in my own private little fort reading, what a nerd I was and still am for that matter!

My boys had one when we lived out in the country. They and their friends loved it. I think if you build it, they will come, lol.

I keep telling my DH I would love a treehouse for me! I could make it my studio and have peace and quiet.

In hindsight, my husband and I should've built something like this for our girls.
My parents would've never spent this kind of money for something to entertain me, and my brothers. We had 200 acres of open farmland to roam, complete with ponds, a whole lot of trees to climb, barn lofts, corn cribs, granaries, hog pens, an orchard full of fruit, and an awesome blackberry patch. We also had several awesome wild grapevines to swing on that brought hours and hours of entertainment.

A previous owner of the house we lived in when we were little had built a tree house. By the time we were old enough to use it , it had gotten old and splintery so my Mom said we weren't allowed in there, but we got up in there anyway. I fell out and broke my wrist. One of my brothers got a huge chunk of wood in his foot that required surgery to remove it. My Mom had Daddy take it down and burn it. After that we used to play in the hayloft in the barn. My littlest brother fell out of the loft but our cow broke his fall and he wasn't hurt.Mom never knew about that.I bet poor old Heidi didn't like having a 50 pound kid falling on her.
