Re: KITCHEN WITH COPPER ACCENTS

This kitchen is gorgeous!!!!! I don't like the hanging Copper Pots though, but a piece here or there is fine. To me they are so pretty but look like a lot of work...

Copper is very warm looking and pretty, but I also don't like trying to keep it clean, nor do I find it practical for routine cooking. I do have a couple of large copper pieces (not pots) and one is on top of a kitchen cabinet strictly for decorative purposes. The other, a large open kettle type piece, needs cleaning out so I can use it as decoration. It's currently just a hold all in one of the bathrooms

Re: KITCHEN WITH COPPER ACCENTS

i like the kitchen and the copper pots hanging, the glass door cabinets.  However, I do not care for the island and seating which doesn't look comfortable to me, I am not a fan of high seats.  I prefer a dining table and chairs and that would be my change in this kitchen.

I don't have any copper pots, but I like the look of them.

I like the white cabinets and countertops in this kitchen. I'm not a fan of the grey used on the island and stove hood.

We have white cabinets in our kitchen, and a few have glass doors. My white cabinets are contrasted with bronze hardware and darker warmer tones in our countertops and backsplash.

I LOVE copper accents---and I like the glass cabinet fronts--I would display my fiestaware dishes there. the stove hood is fantastic!! Doesn't look to be a huge kitchen which I also love

I totally agree with you on all counts.

(I just saw a video by an Interior Designer that said "white kitichens are out".  I hope not; white is a wonderful background for color and lifts spirits.  I love white with different textures in kitchens.).

I don't have any copper cookware but I love that kitchen!  I would be very happy there.

I love copper. It's so warm and inviting in a kitchen.

I had a copper teakettle I used as an accent on top our kitchen cabinets. After many years I sent it off to the Goodwill. I grew tired of polishing it and trying to keep it looking nice. Hated to give it away, but it turned grimy-looking so quickly after polishing.

Re: KITCHEN WITH COPPER ACCENTS

I had forgotten two "folk" recipes for reviving copper in a pinch, if you don't have polish--  apply ketchup, leave for awhile, then rub and rinse.  The vinegar, and the acid in the tomatoes in ketchup, help dispel tarnish.

Alternatively,  put salt on a lemon wedge, and rub all over copper item.  Then rinse.

If an item is not pure copper, but simply a copper "finish", I think these methods should be avoided-- probably too harsh.

I don't think white kitchens will ever be "out".  They will go through phases of being less in demand, but IMO they are a classic kitchen option.

The recent deluge of white kitchens over the past ten years or so has been a bit extreme.  No wonder people are deciding to go in the complete opposite direction; many don't want what everyone else has.  I would agree that there is a certain white kitchen "look" that has been done to death.  But white cabinetry done in one's own personal style will always be relevent.
