Re: Just finished going through an old box of saved papers

A couple months ago I went through old papers.  Tax returns back to 2000.  I moved it all out.  It's definitely a great feeling having papers organized.

I have gotten rid of a lot of my paperwork, but I don't discard anything that has my personal info. on it; I shred it.  I look at every piece of paper.

My Mom has a boat load of papers that need to be shredded.  SIL works at a bank, they have days where anyone can bring in papers to be shredded.

All of us "kids" are going to spend a day to help her go through all the papers to gather for shredding & take to the bank.  Dad saved EVERYTHING

Just did the same thing.....if I didn't know who was in the picture, I knew my children wouldn't be interested.....so I only saved pictures of people we know.....

Re: Just finished going through an old box of saved papers

When I finally decided career development and counseling projects were no longer something I wanted to do six years ago, I waited for a rainy day and started to purge:

training course outlines, career guide binders, seminar outlines, references articles, copies of handouts for a leadership college course I taught and for special training programs, correspondence, flipchart presentations ( must have had over 10 of the large pads ), etc.  Most went to the local church's recycle paper bins.  The color pens, paper, magic markers and spring-top notepad holders all went to the school.  The card sort decks went to other trainers.  Had to keep the financial records for tax purposes.

It took me over a week of rainy days to finish....but I got back a 4-drawer filing cabinet and a hall storage cabinet.

This is was a major accomplishment.  It fit in with all the rest of my very organized life: clothing, bill info files, early Christmas gifts, financial records, car interior and trunk, house, vacation house, etc.  Now if only I can get DH on board, LOL !!!!!!!!!!
