Why must nearly everything need to be illuminated?!? I enjoy a lot of the illuminated pieces and, have bought many over time.
However, it seems this year that nearly everything is glowing, flickering and lit in places that nature would never.
those of us who celebrate Christmas, all put Christmas lights out. But illuminated silk mums, garland, etc.
i guess some people like everything lit. But I would like the option of having some things just "be". I'm sure some may think we'll, just don't put the batteries in. Yes, that's fine. But, the cost of the battery element is built in to an item. Why have something I may like and have it be more expensive because there is a lighting element in/on it?
As I said, just my humble opinion.

I understand and agree that it seems to be overkill sometimes and the battery/lit element does drive up the price, but it must be that the lit items are the big sellers, or the trend would've stopped by now.
FWIW, the main item of interest for me today is the set of faux pears, no lights. Ha Ha.

@Gemspirit Hi, you do have the option of having things be unilt with even luminated decor. You don't have to put batteries in them and have them lit. I have bought lots of battery operated decor any never put a battery in them. I bought them because I even loved the pieces unlit, just the way they are ![]()

@SHOPRI bought those too! I had another couple of items but, am trying to steer clear of things we wouldn't light naturally. Give me a carved out pumpkin...fine! I have one from the craft store from when my now grown kids were little. We still put it in our living room window every year. 🌻

@Susan Louise-I did mention that in my post. But the device drives up the price by a substantial amount!

In my opinion, the reason why this is happening on QVC is because the kind of unlit decor that you find more suitable is more readily available in stores nowadays. In order for QVC to compete with a store where you can purchase these types of items, they have to present more unique items which are not readily available. You wouldn't buy cotton balls or milk from QVC, so why would they sell decor that you can find at Walmart, Target, Big Lots, Hobby Lobby, Pottery Barn, Michaels, or the Dollar Stores? I think this is at least part of the explanation as to why we're seeing this trend.

Those apples & pears look very realistic. Love them!

@Gemspirit Yes, I know. I only stated the point again because I do buy illuminated decor whether I have them lit or not...because I love the piece/product. I would be willing to pay the same $ even if the pieces were not B/O. If anything was way over the top for me price-wise, I wouldn't buy it

Thanks for saying that. I'm glad others think the pears in particular look good. It looks like Valerie had the pears in the wire apothecaries during the video for H200890 from earlier today. I paused the video several times and if they are indeed all pears, they are quite varied in color, which is just what I want. It may be that they are varied from one side of the pear to the other, but that will work for me. I hope they get a presentation later on.
I am looking at other sites for pears, too, but I'm not sure if I like any of them as much...still thinking because of the s&h and total price...

@SHOPR and @ChiliPepper I agree with both of you! They are great looking faux fruit! I think if there was a box available with a mix of all 3 of the fruit ...green & red apples and pears..and maybe some other fruit like grapes, I'd snag them up. But I don't need 18 pcs of fruit. Again, for me, it's part storage issue, and part available space to display a big bowl of fruit ![]()
