It takes 5 minutes to make a mess.

It takes 5 minutes to clean it up.

It takes 25 minutes to clean it up if you leave it until later.

@Sooner - In my experience, "messes" tend to grow if you don't deal with it right away. So - TRUE!

TRUE.........and it takes even LONGER if your "mess" is a pile of debris left by a sudden whirlwind (because it spreads!)

@beach-mom Exactly!  I had this experience yesterday, and started thinking about it and wondered if it is a usual thing for others.

Made a mess on top of my bathroom counter--not a spill just clutter.  More joined it through the day.  At the end of it all, walking around and putting things back, getting it all neat and clean, was way more trouble than if I'd picked it up to begin with!    

You are exactly right!  It grows, it gets friends of more clutter and mess to join it and on it goes!!!!!
