We put up an ornamental fence when we moved in. It's a third of the backyard, surrounding deck and good for a dog run about. The remaining backyard is landscaped nicely, including patio and fire pit.

1.25 acres, all fenced.  I also have a front gate that I usually keep open, but close it at night when deer are in the area.  I couldn't grow anything on my property if the deer weren't kept out.

no my backyard is the golf course & beautiful woods with lots of beautiful nature!  Sitting on my fully screened lanai reading a book, seeing the wildlife (inc. crazy golfers😉) is my relaxation😊

We live on 10 acres. We have a wooden fence at the bottom of our property that runs parallel to the road.  It’s just for show.

I have 2 small horse pastures that have electric fencing, one on the side, one in the back of the house.

Our dogs wear perimeter collars, no fence for them.

Our neighborhood has 8 ft. fences with brick columns between the sections.  I love having them.  It makes everything so private and helps knock down the wind a little too!

I live in southern California - and my hoouse is on a corner. There's a block wall on the street side - and a wooden fence between my neighbors yard and mine - and a gate to the street. Can't imagine not having a fence. How can ur animals run free? Can strangers and stray animals just walk in ur backyard?

Where I live in California, we all have redwood fences for the backyard. Everybody has one. I also have a redwood deck.

You make the effort to border train your pets so they stay in your yard.

My cousin lives in rural west Texas. We were talking about how , out west, it seems everyone has fences but they aren't particularly prevelant in the east. She said when you live where there are wolves, coyotes and mountain lions wandering fences are more important. Not to mention rattlesnakes.

@kivah.  It is very woodsy in my area. We have trees, forests and brooks in the immediate area. You can't see into other backyards most of the time. We have a half acre. Most on the street don't have any fences. Dogs seem to stay in their own yards and any kids in their backyards.

lived here over 30 years and never had a stranger in my yard. This is not a sidewalk, walking neighborhood. Only animals in my yard are deer, turkeys and birds. No fences here.
