We live in an older neighborhood (my family home from since ‘65). There is a wooden fence next to the street and chain link across the back. My mom planted different shrubbery across the back and it’s grown 8 ft tall so serves well for privacy.

We moved into our new home 2 years ago and yes, the first thing we did was fence our yard with a privacy fence. From the sides of the front of the house all the way around the perimeter. I have 2 chihuahuas and a yorkie that need a safe place to run.

I was raised in town, and owned my first home in a neighborhood with yards about this size as well. We had some natural borders that acted like fencing (trees), but if I went back to town living, I'd fence in my entire back yard like this.

I don't like how it can block the view, but I do like that I have a little bit of privacy when living so close to others. It sets up a defined space and I can landscape and decorate to my desires and not have to see what others have done or not done to their property when I am enjoying my yard.

For me, when living in more confined spaces like a neighborhood, I want my space well defined, as private as I can make it, and to enjoy my way of landscape and display without the interference of other's who at least one, will junk up their property, not mow or trim etc.

Being a dog lover, and current Momma to two of them, I will ALWAYS have a fence.  Keeps my dogs in and your dogs out!!!

I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend, til death, your right to say it

We have a fence in the back yard but are not allowed to have one in the front yard.

In Arizona all homes are built with a fence, maybe if you have lots of land you dont have one but all subdivisions have a fence. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

We have lived in this house all our married life.  First fence (we put it up) was wood....when that died we put up white vinyl...expensive but worth the price.

I would not like in a house with out a fence.

My property was fenced on all four side when I moved in.  Since then I've had to replace the cedar fences on two sides twice.  I put both of those up myself.  Last summer I replaced  one of those sides with a vinyl fence.  I would like to replace the chain link across the back with a new vinyl fence someday.  I like to block off the view to my neighbors because none of them take care of their yards and I work my tail off keeping my yard looking nice.

We’ve always had fences for the dogs as well as for privacy. Most of the homes we’ve lived in we’ve had to put the fences up.

We bought a plot of land, and built our home on it, so no fences originally.

We have a 30’ x 30’ chain link fence with a huge oak tree inside it, a water trough, a big dog house, hard side wading pool, and big dog toys.  It’s for my k9s to hang in, when we absolutely can’t take them with us.

Otherwise, the rest of our land is open for the deer, wild turkey, our resident red fox family, and possums to roam.  Land for them is getting scarce.
