I use to be a June Cleaver, but those days are long gone.
That's my major source of untidiness. Our dog has his own toybox, and I am forever putting his scattered squeaky toys back in the box, only for him to take every one out again. Rather than play with one that's already out, he'd rather fetch another, and another. I put them back in the box about fifty times a day. It's a sort of war
Dogs are funny, aren't they? I think that's part of the game for them. Mine will be going after one particular toy, so he figured out quickly that he has to move the others to get to that one. One-by-one, he gently removes each toy and sets it down by the toybox until he gets to the one he wants.

Aww, Clover, what a wonderful "war" to be involved in. I'm sure he loves the attention his 'bad' behavior gets. Gotta love our furry kids!

For the most part yes, I would be able to receive guest and not feel bad. There might be a little dust here or there but otherwise good to go. However every once in a blue moon the show hoarders would feel right at home. Thankfully those times are years apart.

Our home is organized and fairly clean so I don't panic if the doorbell rings.

Yes, but it's just me, so I always clean as I go. I take clothes off and it goes in the hamper and jackets/sweaters back in their place. I wash dishes while I'm cooking. I fix my bed as soon as I get up and everything is always in it's place. But if my son comes in from college, it's a no go, his bedroom is back to everything on the floor, kitchen is a mess as he eats all day. But I don't mind it, funny how now I welcome the mess.

If I don't know they are coming, the front door stays unanswered. That may sound mean but, since I retired, my schedule is my own and it doesn't include impromptu visits from friends or family.
Same here. I always make a point of letting friends know that I don't answer my door if I'm not expecting company. I really prefer meeting friends for a breakfast, lunch, or dinner out. I would rather do that than be in my home or theirs.

Livingroom, Dining room, bedroom, guest room: Yes. Kitchen, Den, office: Depends on what my husband has been up to.
I hate drop-ins, too. All I ask is about half an hour warning.
