Our neighbor just moved into an independent living cottage & was able to choose everything in her unit, including paint colors, flooring, appliances, etc.

We went to see it yesterday & it is beyond gorgeous..it is about 1700 sq ft & every room is painted the SAME color, a taupe-beige..we loved her wall color & plan to do some minor redecorating after the holidays..removing wall paper & painting all rooms except bedrooms. Now, we both love the all the same color walls..hopefully this is our last home with no decorating for resale purposes. We actually painted our first home (over 40 yrs ago) a similar beige-tan color..full circle, maybe. I am definitely ready to repaint our light mauve painted living room 😊

What are you thoughts?

What' s unusual about all walls the same? We have always let the architecture shine, keeping walls white and avoiding wallpaper. Just our taste. I have never liked jarring visual changes from room to room, preferring an expansive flow of the same flooring and walls throughout.

Taupe is a basic neutral which goes with everything and never goes out of style.  Recently, gray has been the "in" neutral and I detest it.  It's very institutional looking, very cold.  It reminds me of a cinderblock wall unpainted.  I do like some color in bedrooms; it makes them more personal and fun to decorate.

I don't think I'm ready for the same color everywhere.

I could almost see the main level living areas as one tone, but I think I'd still have fun with the lower level powder room.

But then, I'd have to strip all the wallpaper before I could do that.

Upstairs?  My bedroom would have to be it's own special color.  Of course, I do see the beauty at re-sale with a neutral color palette.  Hopefully a unique buyer will find my unique house and buy it, regardless.  I did!🏡

We had a soft beige in L/R and our bedroom was a lovely rosy shade (not dark) and son's b/r at his request was a lovely pale lbue.

Master bath was a light lavender (hubby actually loved it) and DS's bath was a light yellow.

I like variety. HATE gray paint, looks like an institution to me.

My whole house is painted the same shade of taupe except for the dining room which has a darker shade and the main powder bath which has decorative painting that resembles wall paper.  I love it.

My living room, dining room & foyer are a light taupe and I love it!  While gray is the popular current neutral I happen to like my taupe better.  I add lots of color with accents.

My walls are all the same shade of taupe thru out the entire house.

When I do have it repainted - I am going to use one shade darker on the paint swatch.

I have also had a soft white thru out in another house, hmmm.... for me, now I like a little richer tone. Nothing  even close to a deep tone, just a nice warm backdrop of color..

And gray. That will never happen in my house. Just not a fan of that color for walls.

Also, not an ivory either. I like nothing with yellow undertones.

Just like your makeup and clothing.......your walls and furniture (and your car) should be a color that is flattering to your skin tone.

I built my cottage a few years ago and its decorated very light and airy. Yes, we opted to keep all the walls throughout a very pale beige. Love the look. I don't like any kind of clutter and having the walls light and all the same just opens everything up.
