Re: If You Like Color and Great Designs

I don't care for anything about this room, but the coffee table is just hideous.

world's best living rooms

This was considered one of top 9 "best in the world" living rooms designs. Personally, I think it is very well done. What do you think?

Okay, I'll ask .... considered one of the top 9 (not top ten?) best living rooms ..... by WHOM?  Who decided this?

And by chance did they say WHY they thought so .... ?

This is a real head scratcher ....  IMO

@jubilant  I love it all. If it was my home, I would have painted the walls saffron yellow. The wall color they used is too blah for me. Yes, I love bold color.Woman Wink

Ratings are always dependent on who's doing the rating.

I'd never hire this person.

While those particular prints are not for me, @jubilant ,  I think it's an interesting room.  I like a knowing mix of patterns (just these are not to my personal taste),  and I agree with you that for what it is, it is well done.

The wall color reminds me of Farrow and Ball's "Setting Plaster",  very popular in the U.K.,  and the room strikes me as having that slightly eccentric, "English bohemian" vibe, traceable all the way back to the Bloomsbury Group and the wild artistry of Virginia Woolf's sister, Vanessa Bell.

Fun to see!  I do like the painting, the wonderful mantel, the paired, distressed mirrors, the bookcases and the tall chest in the second picture.

Wow, so much stuff in this room. I can't even focus on any one or two things.

Here is the article I found:

These extraordinary living rooms – from the best interior designers in the world – are the inspiration you need for your next renovation

It’s the moment all interior design aficionados have been awaiting: 2021’s By Design: The World’s Best Contemporary Interior Designers, the bible of interior design, has just launched.
Building on Phaidon’s first foray into the interior design category, By Design: The World’s Best Contemporary Interior Designers introduces us to the most groundbreaking interior designers working today.
The book which has been dubbed the Oscars of the design world celebrates the globe’s greatest interior designers – and we’ve been given a preview with an edited extract of the best living rooms in the book, which we are sharing with you, below.

Hope this helps!  Ha!!!!

Out of the 9 rooms, this was the only one I thought was a very interesting mix of textiles and color.  The others were not at all anything I would even consider so I get what you are saying! The designer of the picture I posted is Kit Kemp.  Most of her rooms are very busy and colorful. That is what she is known for. She is a European designer, I believe, and is known for her work in Hotels.

I think "English Bohemian" is a very good description. It is kind of "wild and daring" isn't it? I also loved the mantel,  those distressed mirrors, and that tall chest.
