If not and if it's just plywood, consider the same configuration you have only continuing the laminate/vinyl 'wood' up the stairs and then covering with a stair runner that is more easily and less expensively replaced. Ceramic is pretty, but it wouldn't be my choice. As for carpet, I only like it in bedrooms.
Thank you.. Do you think it would be expensive to do that on the stairs?

We have carpeting in the living room, dining room & family room...all need to be replaced. I like the idea of the vinyl planks but we may be selling a few years down the road and DH wants to put hardwood in the family room to start. Then we'll do the living room & dining room.
The kitchen has ceramic tile that is a pain to clean but looks good so it will stay. I was always hesitant about putting wood in the kitchen because of water spills and our sloppy dog. Even with a large mat under her water bowl there is always a pool of water on the floor after a drink. I didn't realize that bamboo was water resistant. Good to know!

It would be so easy to care for.I am currently enamored of vinyl wood plank flooring - it really looks like wood with the ease of caring for vinyl. We are looking to take up some carpet in our back hallway and replace it with vinyl woodplank. I think it is trendy right now to have the same flooring throughout, but that is certainly not a rule.
Another option , but much more pricey, is the porcelain tile that looks like wood. It is beautiful, however, it is a hard surface to walk on and it is expensive. They just took up the wood floors in our church that had seen better days and replaced them with the porcelain tiles that mimic wood.

It does look exactly like wood with knots like you would see in real wood. So easy to take care of and the absolute best choice if you have animals. I sent for samples online and found IFloors to be the most reasonable and extremely helpful. Good luck with whatever you choose.I am currently enamored of vinyl wood plank flooring - it really looks like wood with the ease of caring for vinyl. Avoid Home Depot. We had THE most horrendous experience with them re: carpet laying.
Maybe that's already a widely-known fact - I don't know. But I do know that I wish I knew it before that nightmare experience.
