Neighbors behind us over one house are having guttering installed on the back of their house. The guys they hired have no clue what they are doing. I even went outside & told them so. I feel like driving around there to see if the people are home so I can tell them they are getting ripped off. I know none of my business so I'm not going over there.

The morons installed her guttering around the fireplace instead of stopping on one side & starting back up on the other side. They are also installing flashing on top of their shingles instead of on the underneath side. I'm sure they will now have a leak the way they flipped up their shingles trying to install that guttering.

The guttering is suppose to keep water running away from your roof & house. The way it's installed it's still going to run back behind it.

Hope those 2 women figure it out before they pay the bill. I just hate when people take advantage of women thinking they won't know any better.

Sorry I just had to vent. I'm so mad seeing this happen.

You will get a lot of comments here about mind your own business.

But if your neighbors are on friendly terms with you, and you think they would welcome knowing the truth, I'd bring it up with them.

If they aren't receptive to you, you'll know to never interfere again.

But I hate to see people get ripped off too.

@Mominohio I know I said in my post It's None of My Business so not going over there. I don't even know their names. I just know 2 women live there. They are nice. DH has talked to them while replacing our fence.

They must not be home as I have not seen either of them come out to look to see how things are going.

I would never let anyone do anything to our home without being home watching them. I would know if the job was being done right or not.

I hope they did not pay for the job upfront.

I'm sure when they get home from work they will go out back to check it out or at least you would think they would.

I'm going to watch for her & tell her the job was not done right. She can go from there.

If you are 100% sure the gutters are being installed wrong, say something to your neighbors so they can handle it.

@Nightowlz  In your area, do you have to have a building permit when putting up new gutters?  If so, and the "contractors" pulled a permit, there will be inspections.  Now, if these "contractors" aren't licensed, they most likely didn't.

Is your husband as involved in watching this project as you are?  Perhaps since he has had conversations with these two women, he could walk over (while the workers aren't there) and mention what you two have observed.  Like someone said, they can either be grateful or not.  Either way, you can feel that you have been a good neighbor.  THEN, I would stop looking out the window.

If you are friendly and on good terms with your neighbors I would mention it to them.

@Nightowlz I'd mention it to the neighbors.  And we have done just that.  Lowes was installing new gutters on our next door neighbors house; Lowes installed them upside down (!) so they wouldn't possibly collect any rainwater and drain off.  Since they were installed wrong, they didn't lie flush to the house either, they sort of bowed-out.  She's a single Mother next door, no one should have to put up with that.  We told her, pointed to our ours were installed, then hers, and she went to Lowes to speak to a manager and show pictures, and they came and redid it.

Good for you for looking out for them.  I'd go over there and talk to the homeowners.

@tends2dogs

I don't know if you have to get a permit to install gutters or not. These were not licensed contractors just some handymen which are just that.

DH is at work so he has not seen it yet. I sent him a text he told me to mind my own business. LOL!!!

The people are at work right now since I have not seen them out back today.

I'm positive the work was not done right. I'm no dummy.

They installed the flashing on top of their Roof Shingles so they could also have the flashing hanging down over the gutter to try to keep the water running to the gutter instead of behind it. They had to do it like that because there is a gap between the house & the gutter because they put it across their fireplace instead of ending at one side of the fireplace & starting back up on the other side. There is not suppose to be a gap between your gutter & roof.

Surely they will come out back to see their new gutter when they get home from work. If they don't that tells me they don't care anyways. If they do & I see them I'm going to tell her it was not installed right & she can go from there.

Can't stop looking out my windows. I have 5 across the back of the house from living area to dining area also with French doors with glass. If I'm in this area no way not to look out the windows unless I close the cellular shades.

I'm not doing that as I like all the light coming in.

DH said he saw these morons at Lowe's buying the guttering before he went to work. They are back over there again. Does not take from 7 am to who knows what time since they are back to hang guttering across half the back of your house. LOL!!!
