Many companies throw in bathrooms free with kitchens.
30 yrs ago.........lol my large kitchen complete remodeling was more or less $20,000 and my BR $10,000,not sure if that helps at all.
I imagine the price went up by now,but maybe you can get an idea.

It was 15 years ago since we have done any significant remodeling. Back then the total redo of our kitchen - custom made cabinets etc cost 23,000 so I can imagine what it would cost now.

It's going to depend on what materials you want. Granite and tile, and custom made cabinets, are going to be very expensive. You can redo a room for a lot less than $20,000 if you're not going top of the line.

Much depends on the materials used.
Kitchen cabinets: prob around $10,000 for an average size kitchen- mostly stock. That's going to be your greatest expense. $1000.+ for counter tops and very hard to guesstimate flooring.
Full gut small kitchen and hall bath in 2007 on a tight budget was $30K back then, not including appliances.

If you know the running feet of cabinets and counter tops, and square footage of flooring needed, you can do the estimates yourself. Don't forget to figure in sinks and fixtures if you are replacing them. For bathrooms, you can buy prefab vanities with sinks installed and all you have to choose is the type you want and then pick a faucet to go in them.
If you know those measurements, you can consider your options. Because there are more options than anybody can possibly imagine. And it will all depend on whether you do the work yourself or hire a contractor.
Once you choose the materials you like and have formulated an estimate, add about 10-15% to that.

Nothing is ever free. That means they are overcharging on the rest to compensate paying for the bathroom.

You said they are on the small side, and I'll assume you will not go high end. I'll guess the kitchen will be $12,000 and if you only replace the floor, sink and vanity in the bathroom maybe $1500.
