Memories? 😗

Was just thinking, my oldest bedding set is in the guest room and it's 10 years old. And that probably needs to be replaced.

It’s amazing our ancestors even survived into their teens because back then, every body had beds this old.   I have a lovely old mattress I will never get rid of, I have kept it covered with nice heavy mattress covers, it is two-sided, and I turn and rotate it and it is just perfect. It is at least 30 years old. They simply don’t make them like they used to. (They used to have a 25 year guarantee before they discovered “dust mites”)

I think all this business about dust mites is just a way for people to be sold a new mattress. Those same mattress companies have also eliminated the double sided mattress which means that it wears out twice as fast, and cost just the same as the old mattresses.

@Bhvbum

I agree.I have no idea how old my mattress is. My DH is dead since 92 and we bought it many,many yrs before then. I love it and it is still like new.

I'm 80 now and I would be very happy if I could take it to my grave and ,"Rest in Peace"  and comfort!  Smiley Happy

Re: How many dust mites

@fthunt

That reminds me....

My SIL recently mentioned she was still sleeping on the mattress that had belonged to her parents!

Both have been dead many years, so I estimated that thing to be 40 years old or more.  In fact, I'm not sure it wasn't handed down to THEM!  Yikes!

This family NEVER bought a new pillow or mattress.

This is the same woman that took the old pillows I brought down for her dog bed and used them in her OWN bed rather than give them to the dog.  Has never, to my knowledge, bought a new pillow.  And proud of it.

Yet, she complains incessantly about sinus, allergy and congestion issues.  Really?

It makes me queazy thinking about it.
