How do you make your bed?

So I am looking for new bedding and every picture I look at in magazines or catalogues show the beds with the bedspread pulled back with the blankets and sheets showing and then the decorative pillows on top of that. Does anyone really make their bed like that? I have always had my bedspread pulled flat to the top of the bed with pillows on top. Am I way outdated??!! Thanks!
