Our house has steel siding and it's an ivory. Our trim is all brown and our roof is varying shades of brown.

We hace a two story cedar house very large double windows and a wrap around porch in the woods. It's stained a dark honey tone with chocolate trim. The foundation is grey dry stacked rock.

Our house has vinyl siding on the sides and back and the color is called Ice which is a light silvery shade. The shutters are a light olive green and the front door is a dark charcoal color. The front of our house is a variegated red/black/putty brick. We're happy with the colors.

It depends on the style house, period, etc. Purple, pinks, etc. work on a Victorian Painted Lady, but would look rediculous on my 60's ranch! For your house, I'd go with a greyed green, like a dusty moss, if that makes sense! Then, do the trim in an off-white or beige. You can paint the front door a bolder color, even a true brick red!

I chose a terra cotta, new subdivision and all the other houses in the block are some shade of tan and my house stands out. I love it and I do get lots of compliments.

@qvcfreak I love this color. We see a lot of homes where I live in Fl. painted this color.
We havde the stacked stone accents on our house too - love them. It helps to break up and accent the painted stucco.

Our HOA/mgmt co has nitpicky rules about what you can (and can't) do to the exterior. ANY deviations have to approved by the architectural committee. If you do it anyway, the HOA can make you un/redo it; revoke your parking, recreational, and voting priviliges; and in extreme cases, can sue you.
In some cases, when the state said HOAs aren't allowed to ban certain things (e.g., satellite dishes, solar panels, electric car charging stations), the mgmt company rewrites the covenants in such a way that it's still effectively banned.
For example:
* porch light fixture must be colonial/carriage style. Despite the fact the HOA replaced their original streetlights w/modern LED style so now our porchilights don't match.
* exterior paint must be one of the designated "McCormick State House collection" colors that Pulte used. At least they finally posted the chart on our HOA website so I could match the shutter color and took the swatch to Home Depot to get the Behr equivalent.
* only 3 approved Behr semi-transparent deck stain colors
* fruit/vegetable gardens may only be in the back yard, not the front or side yard. (I think this rule is b/c tomatoes have to be staked and certain ppl think it looks tacky.
* NO drying racks
Am I ok w/preventing my neighbors from painting shutters chartruese, eggpalnt, or electric blue? Yes. But do I care what color someone stains their deck or whether their energy-efficient windows have mullions or not? No.

Thank you, my son was "what" when I told him but he loved it when he saw it in person. The color is matte and I too love the contrast with the stacked stone accents

We painted last year and it was a struggle selecting the colors. One thing that I remember from years ago was that if you want to have your home appear larger, use a lighter color on the trim. If you want to scale it down in appearance, use a darker color for the trim. Last year, we took the suggestion of the painter and had the door painted a burgundy color. Love it !!
