How do you change your home in the summertime?

My mom used to change everything in the summertime - lighter draperies, curtains, bedspreads, etc. My house remains pretty much the same all year long, partly because we don't have distinct seasons where I live and partly because I'm a lot lazier than my mom was, lol.

Do you change your home decor in the summertime?

Thanks for the sweet memory. At one point, I think Mom changed curtains, and bed quilts and maybe a few more things

I don't change out the antiques, but I do change out silk arrangements (I have maybe ? 2!).  I also change out the snow topped houses from David Winters, Dept 56 from Great Britain.

I do..a little.  I have lighter weight bed linens and quilts and I change the silk flower arrangements.

I used to change the drapes, but stopped that about a year ago. I also switch out some throw pillows and wreath on the doors with the seasons.

i have boxes of stuff in storage, but lost my get up and go when I retired.  I am no longer interested in the fussy stuff and decor.

Re: How do you change your home in the summertime?

@house_cat   I don't really change anything but the pillows on the couches and the couple of wreaths that I have over the mirrors.  I usually have some sort of holiday ones, or the faux fur pillows out on display during the cold months, and try to get spring or light materials during the spring/summer.

The heavy throws also get packed away.

Luckily, I purchased shutters several years ago, so I don't have to mess with drapes, although I have them on the patio door with a fancy smancy pull tassle to pull them to the side so the doggies can get out their doggie door.

Thanks for the reminder, I think it's time to switch out a couple of them to freshen up the place, it's nearly 100 degrees outside today so anything heavy is packed away until the the fall.

Except for the bed linens, the only change is to turn on the ceiling fans, or the air conditioner, sometimes both.

Oh my...no!  Too much work.

We do have four seasons...keep everything the same except I do decorate for fall and Christmas, but drapes, curtains, bedspreads, aren't changed.

Re: How do you change your home in the summertime?

I love changing decor with the seasons. I do it rather gradually though and it’s easier. All set for Summer now.

My drapes stay the same and quilts but I change the sheets, bathroom rugs and towels to lighter colors. Also the kitchen placemats and filler jar on the table has seashells now and a battery candle.

My living room has a white sofa and  burgandy oriental carpet so I use white arrangements and new mixed with antiques. Figurines are lighter and more floral. I change Toss pillows with seasons.

Battery candles and holders change with seasons and all come on at different times in case the power goes out before generator cut on. That way it doesn’t upset the  dogs 🐶🐶

My Mother would change to organdy curtains and grass rugs in Summer. That was before air conditioning!

Yes, my mom would change out drapes, bedspreads and slipcovers every year! I change:

The display items on my entryway bombe chest

Some items on my mantel

Throw pillows and blanket throws in the LR

Bedroom comforter and sheets

Flowers in the basket on my front door

Seasonal planters from Costco near my entry

Decorate the deck with furnishings that are stored from Nov-Apr.

Outdoor planters and hanging baskets

My home is small, so a little change gives a lot of look and it's not much work.
