If most follow that, there are a lot of disgusting people out there with contaminated clothng!!! I might wear a bra a second day if I am just at home and haven't been sweating. A blazer or vest, I can see wearing more than once. I would only wear clothing more than once if I only wore something for an hour or 2. Any type of jeans or pants would need washed after an all day wearing. Unless wearing a panty liner, they definitely would not be suitable to wear again!!! I wear a panty liner at all times and would never think to wear any type of pants a second day! Other than that I would feel really yucky putting clothng I wore all day on my freshly showered clean body! When I worked, often by the end of the hectic day I felt somewhat sweaty and yucky being in the clothing all day. Can't imagine wearing it even one other time. Airing out can't possibly make clothing sanitary enough to wear again!! Think of all the germs!

I pretty much follow those guidelines except I wash my jeans after each wearing. I also take a shower and wash my hair before I go out everyday. Some days if I'm at home all day I won't wash my hair and I know of many people who only wash their hair a few times a week. I just feel fresher and cleaner by washing my hair often.
However I was thinking just recently what do those who've gone through a catastrophe do? I'm thinking of all of those people who are running for their lives out in California. Everything is gone and you only have the clothes on your back and maybe your car and wallet.
About a week ago we got an emergency alert on our phones around 11 pm letting us know that there was a possible tornado coming through. I had to wake my husband and we went down into the basement with the dog. I was terrified (we RARELY get tornadoes here in south eastern PA) and I kept thinking if our neighborhood was destroyed like you see on TV sometimes I would probably have to wear the same clothes for days! ....Yuck! Fortunately after 40 minutes it was called off and nothing came of it.
Maybe I'm over thinking this and if one was smart enough to run with their wallets they could eventually go to a store and pick up some clothing but the thought of not having your clothes and toiletries to feel clean & fresh is just icing on the cake when you have to deal with a major loss.
I feel so badly for those people whose lives are being turned upside down.

That describes what I do, pretty much. I always hang up everything I intend to wear again, & hang it on my shower curtain rod before returning it to my closet. And, there are articles of clothing that I might only wear for an hour or two, running errands. My comfy "house clothes" I wear for longer periods of time, & those I wash more frequently.

I find it interesting that some people are grossed out by wearing clothing more than once, but think nothing of climbing into the same bed sheets night after night without first showering or taking a bath.😱

I never gave it much thought, I just use common sense but I am in the ball park with most of it. Perhaps because I grew up with a mother who always yelled at us girls "Don't wash the life out of your clothes!"

@chrystaltree exactly. The more you wash your clothes, the faster you wear them out. Look at the lint that collects in your dryer's lint filter. Those are the fibers that come off your clothes!

I'd sooner wear clean clothes daily then have them last longer. I've never had any clothes that wore out and were unwearable due to washing. I have clothing I have worn and washed over and over and over for many years so overwashing is not an issue!!

I think these recommendations are good - remember they're recommendations for "normal" wear. There are definitely times when laundering something more often makes sense, but for normal activities they make sense to me (except for bras).

There are many people who only wash their bed sheets a few times a year, or not at all. Some people do not even have sheets on their beds. They sleep on the bare mattress. This is more common than you might think and economic status does not make a difference.

I pretty much wash EVERYTHING after one wearing, but I have to admit that I never wash my gloves.
