The houses on Long Island when I was growing up did not have a/c.

My mother's current house on LI doesn't have a/c, they have a window unit in the kitchen and the bedroom.

All the houses in that town sell well even though they don't have a/c.

I don’t consider it complaining, just being realistic about what aging brings.  My house requires more work, the type of jobs I can’t do.  There is always a job to be done.  I like my home but I sure don’t like all the upkeep.  I pooped out trying to clean dark spots off the back of my home (too much rain) and hired a company to do it.  I also gave up high ladders, so that is a bit of a problem.  What has bugged me lately is that things tend to break down around the same time.
