There weren't .The SA cheerfully refunded my $ & commented that they sometimes get flawed merchandise. I ended up going to Kohl's & getting a tablecloth that coordinates with the other two, not what I would normally choose, but it will do. BTW, I also went to Younkers(BonTon), they had a very limited selection. The SA there told me they have decided not to offer many because "no one buys tablecloths anymore." Colliemom, I don't think HGs quality is going down more than anyone else's. The tablecloths I got at HG were much better quality than the one at Kohl's IMO. They were very generously sized & the fabric was much nicer.

WOW - I wish people in my area did NOT purchase tablecloths ! I have started collecting April Cornell tablecloths, at least one a month, and have never had a problem. I have also purchase Lauren and another brand too, without incident. I should not say anything but I have never purchased a defective item from Home Goods and I shop at our nearest location at least once a week and purchase at least 2X a month. That being said I would not be discouraged with the quality of their goods. In regards to our Poster who lost the read measurement lines on her Pirex measuring cups - that happened to me too (not purchased at Home Goods) and the cups where not washed in the dishwasher either. However - the cup was 20 - 25 years old.

I used to buy vinyl tablecloths - when my Son was young w/friends. Money was tight and I was reluctant to spend $100 plus on a piece of round glass. When I found a glass top to go with the kitchen table I started buying cloth tablecloths - by then my Son was 18 and not sloppy. I did find the glass at Ikea in the clearance section for $15 !!! Your 'dream' table will hit ya when you are ready.

have shopped there for years with no problems at all....I don't think any stores are immune to flawed merchandise....but if I did get something that had issues I would not hesitate to return it...amazed at so many who spend good money on something but are quick to throw in the garbage instead.

Today at HG I bought a beautiful Mario Batali wooden cutting board and a set of Jamie Oliver measuring cups - both in great condition. In the clearance section were several Gordon Ramsay items. Anyone shopping at these stores has to - if possible - look at the merchandise before buying. If only the Nigella Lawson line would return - I'd be in Heaven!

How funny is this thread...I just got back from Home Goods about an hour ago. Was there to look for a small little table for the middle landing on my entry foyer steps going upstairs to the bedrooms. For years I had a pedestal there with a cascading plant on top but a day or so ago, after passing that pedestal for about 20 years, I "noticed" it and thought "OMG, how 1990's is that pedestal" and decided what I needed there was some kind of a small table that I could put something on top of, something with a few drawers and an open bottom and voila, I walked back to the furniture dept. and there it was...exactly what I had been looking for. The only drawback (and it wasn't a deal breaker) was that it wasn't exactly the color white I was looking for. It was white but with a kind of sandy color glaze in it but it's in place already and looks great against my dark blue walls.

You do have to look through their stuff, some of it is not perfect, as this table wasn't, but it was the perfect size and the perfect shape so I was willing to overlook the fact that it had the slightest wobble on the hard floor in Marshall's. Turns out, on top of my carpeting it has no movement at all. Go figure.
