If you use holiday themed dishes, when do you start using them and when do you put them away?

I had some, but donated them.  They were too much trouble to store, wash before use and then put away again and they took up too much room.

The older I get, the less stuff I want to bother with.

I kept my tablecloths and use them the day of the holiday.

I recently donated Pfaltzgraff Winterberry dinner plates. Not worth the hassle and too heavy.

I picked up Lenox Presidential china a few years ago at a thrift store. Sold some of the pieces and came out ahead on the deal. Last time I checked Replacements did not want my dinner plates. I just use them for anything between Thanksgiving and New Years. They are not strictly Christmas- they have a holly leaf pattern. As there are just a small number of dinner plates I am OK with enjoying them if only even for one meal a year.

Donated them. My family doesn't do Holiday meals anymore, just too many different eating styles...I knew I was finally finished with it when asked if the lemon slices for the water were organic, my laughing reply was, I don't know just deal with it. We volunteer now, have dinner in our own homes & get together later for a walk & dessert.

Pretty sure my pattern is called Charlton Hall. I set them on our dining room table the day after Thanksgiving and put them away around January 15th. I've got a matching bell and candle holders that I used as part of a centerpiece. In all honesty, we eat in the kitchen so it's mostly done for looks.

Glad I don't have fussy eaters @kitcat51 . Would a non-organic lemon slice kill someone? How rude for them to even ask. I probably would have said "the lemon is organic but we have arsenic in our water".

Gone are the days of just putting food on the table & everyone eating it. In my family everyone eats differently...vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, keto, dirty keto, carnivore & more so making dishes for each got to be frustrating & the organic lemon slice was the last straw, lol. Love them but doing dinners separately is wonderful & everyone brings what they want to eat for dessert...it's the one time I'll ever use the word yay.

@Texasmouse , I usually move our daily dishes out of their normal cabinet and replace them with holiday themed dishes right after Thanksgiving when I am decorating the rest of the house.  I put them away sometime towards the end of winter.  They aren't specifically Christmas...no Santas or elves...so I'm comfortable using them throughout winter.  If they were specifically Christmas themed, I would probably put them away by December 31.

Our china is handmade and his raised areas so it can't be stacked.  I only use it on Christmas day because it is slightly large and the glasses have to be moved up in the dishwasher.   My glasses are rather tall, so it's a pain, but I LOVE them!
