I had given up on quilts at Q.

The quality has declined and the styles had gone way too modern and 'ugly' for me.

I noticed a Lunchtime special today, and looked into it (and bought it!). So I thought I might want to look at their quilts again, for the first time in a couple of years.

I found a number of the kinds of quilts Q used to offer. More traditional and really pretty. I noticed every one I was interested in was presented by Alberti in what appeared to be the same quilt show, with a guy he introduced as Thomas O'Neil, a quilt expert. It appears that this man designed these quilts and brought them to Q. I have never seen him, heard of him and never see any quilt shows anymore. I'm guessing this was on over night, as Alberti was hosting.

I'm worried, though, because many of them are on clearance (or lunchtime special!!), and to me, this probably means they weren't popular and similar ones might not be coming back.

First up, why not any prime time quilt shows, Q? Give us a chance to actually see these products in place of another fashion show.

And does anyone know about this guy? Seen his products in person? How long he has been bringing these to Q?

I'm heading back to look some more. The quality doesn't look like those from 20 years ago, but what is anymore? Looking forward to getting the one I ordered, and will review it here.

Re: Help with Quilts on QVC!

[ Edited ]

@Mominohio, you should see the beautiful quilted throws I have purchased from the Q.  I think it's been 10-12 years since QVC has had truly great quilt shows.  I also got a fabulous wood quilt stand from the Q to display them.  There was a quilt expert that was on then; tall, late 50's?,  thin with bobbed short brownish hair.  Her name escapes me, however she was truly a quilt expert who knew her stuff.  Those were the good 'ole days when they had Tiffany style lamps as well which I miss.  I have no idea who Thomas O'Neil is & if Google can't even give information, it makes me want to take pause, hmmm...!

@BornToShop

Remember those great 'limited edition' quilts? I had one for my son's bed when he was young, and it lasted for many years. I have saved it for him to have later when he has his own children, as it had a wonderful farm scene on it, all pieced and so thick and substantial.

These newly discovered quilts (by me anyway) have the look of many of those from the past. They don't look anywhere near the quality, but I need some for daily use, and if they hold up for even a few years for the price, I would guess them worth it in today's market.

Around $100 doesn't buy much of a quality quilt these days, and I've been looking for several years. There are still really nice quilts out there, but at much higher prices. This one will be for my son's bed, and I don't want to make it a big investment piece. So hoping that the fit and quality are acceptable, when it arrives.

I miss the Tiffany lamps as well. I have about 7 of them in my home, and still love them as much as the day they came to live with me.

Re: Help with Quilts on QVC!

I remember the quilt shows.  I'm not sure, but QVC doesn't seem to have the variety it once had.

Have to add I'm absolutely NOT interested in purchasing quilts, but I do enjoy watching such shows.  I quilted for years and have a backlog here!

Re: Help with Quilts on QVC!

@Mominohio, @BornToShop  Quilts from yesteryear - this is the place that really got me going on buying up A LOT of gorgeous quilts for two of three of my bedrooms.  I still have all of them, use them all the time.  I change out my bedrooms with the seasons too.  Of course I buy quilts elsewhere too - then and currently.

Talking about these quilts reminds me of one in particular that MaryBeth Roe sold that was called the MaryBeth - pure white background with beautiful array of many colors of appliqued flowers with embroidery work on it.  It's trimmed in a light blue piping around the edges - simply lovely.  I bought full/queen for my spare bedroom.  Haven't had that one on the bed for years.  I'm getting that one out this summer and use that on my bed.  It so reminds me of a gorgeous applique that my Grandmother made for me MANY years ago.  She made only two of that particular one and I had to BEG her to make that one again for me.  I felt so special and so blessed that she did it just for me and only one other person.

I now buy quilts from brylanehomes.com and lush.com.  When we had kmart in our area I would find Martha Stewart quilts there too.  It's very hard these days to find great quilts for reasonable prices.

And I almost bought that king sized lunchtime special today too for my master room - it was exactly the colors I use in my master but I opted not to get it.

Re: Help with Quilts on QVC!

I have many handmade quilts, that i had made by the amish, from indiana, that i bought the tops from ,and had quilted many years ago, but because i have dogs,i do not use them now. Many years ago,qvc sold country living quilts,i have some of them, all cotton, they just wear so lovely, that must be about 15 years ago ,that i got them.Check at homegoods ,soon they will have cotton quilts, but like every thing else ,it is tough finding well made quilts.

When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.

Years ago, QVC did offer lots of beautiful 100% cotton quilts, even offered them as TSV's a few times.  I bought many for myself and gave many as gifts.  I still use them and they are still in great condition.  They were mainly the Counry Living All Cotton Quilts which I thought was a wonderful brand.  Wish the Q would bring them back.

Macy's carries quilts and they do go on sale occasionally.  Also The Linen Source dot com and The Company Store dot com and even Plow and Hearth dot com carry nice quilts.

Re: Help with Quilts on QVC!

I have quite a few quilts and throws that I bought from QVC around 16 or 17 years ago. I know when I bought them because some were limited editions and have the year they were made sewn on the back.

A few were made by Donna. I don't remember anything else about her though.

I don't need or want anymore quilts. But if I did, I would by them from local quilters.
