This may sound silly, but I cannot seem to find table lamps that will take high wattage/bright 3-way bulbs. My husband and I love to read in the evening, but need more light! Many of today's lamps take only a 60 watt or equivalent bulb. I am looking for lamps that will take 150 watts or higher. Our old lamps were donated because they were out of style. I had no idea how difficult it would be to replace them.

You could find lamps you like and have them rewires for higher wattage. It's not very expensive.

Check out overstock.com. Under table lamps you can narrow the search by wattage. If you click on 150w all lamps that can take that wattage will be listed.

check Kirklands. I have several lamps from there that take 3 way bulbs

Jcp online has some great 3way reasonably priced sets.

I'd check Homegoods, TJ Maxx and Marshall's. They often have beautiful 'designer' lamps for great prices and are marked with the maximum wattage. I have no idea, but I wonder if use of the new 'curly' bulbs are subject to the same limitations... I use them, but I don't like really bright lights anyway, so it's not been an issue.

I have been looking for new lamps for the living room for three years now and can't find any that are tall enough. I don't care for these lamps on the end table that are so short that you have scoot down to be able to read any thing. Good luck on your search.
