Re: Help! Bought wrong size table/ chairs decorating help

@Beautiful life, I like the chairs in post 54. I thought you had exchanged them, until I read your post. Those look a lot better.

Try changing the position of the chairs exactly like it's shown in the picture that you posted in post #54.  I think it will make a big difference.

I would get different chairs, and take the white ones to a consignment shop to sell.

I think we've all made decorating mistakes.  I certainly have.

You need something on the floor to break up the same color theme.  Also, I would choose a color instead of the black valances.  You could use the color for the chair cushions/fancy placemats/valances and centerpiece (not a solid color but complimentary patterns).

I don't understand why the OP can't just return the table. Everyone has a return policy. Best to measure next time.

Re: Help! Bought wrong size table/ chairs decorating help

The chairs are quite heavier looking compared to the table. -  Perhaps something

with either a beefier pedestal or heavier legs was in order...

But .., no need to fret, put on your thinking cap, as they used to say... 🤔

Something to beef up the size of that table...

a large print tablecloth, large pattern of your choice - plaid, striped, floral ...

two table runners, crossing over in the center and draping over on all four sides ...

a combination of a large print tablecloth with some sort of natural weave round placemats ...

think bold in pattern! not solids!

-Oh the possibilities are endless, think of it that way 😀!-

Re: Help! Bought wrong size table/ chairs decorating help

@Beautiful life   Your table is fine and the correct size, it is the chairs that are too high and too heavy looking and the wrong proportions..  Here is my suggestion, replace the chairs.  Ballard Designs has these chairs that I think would work nicely for you.  They are called Constance Dining Chairs are are on sale $269.25 for 2.  They come in white.  I have included photos of them around a 48" round dining table, so you can see what they look like.

These are considered a Bentwood chair and I am sure that you can find them easily and for less money somewhere else if you like the look.

I think the chairs are kind of clunky looking with the marble table.  If I had to choose what to keep, I'd keep the table and look for new chairs.

If replacing any of the components isn't doable, you can lighten them up with cushions, or consider painting them so they don't compete with the white marble.

Re: Help! Bought wrong size table/ chairs decorating help

@Beautiful life

I just hate for you to have to consider purchasing new chairs that so many have recommended.

Just throwing out another idea.  Would you consider painting the chairs a color that would blend in with the wall color or perhaps a light gray taupe? I am thinking that would visually make them recede and the table would stand out more.

I wish I knew how to find an app that would enable downloading a picture and change up the color without actually painting.
