If so, I apologize, but who is your favorite interior designer/decorator, whichever even if they do not have a formal education (4-year-college degree in same). My favorite is Bunny Williams and she does not have a 4-year degree, attended a junior college but had a lifetime of loving design and then worked in the business, learning on the job and she has more OJT than most people. She is not only a good interior decorator but also a great interior designer and a landscape architect and master gardener. She is all that and a bag of plants and fabric.

I dont follow or have any favorites. They only ones I am aware of are on HGTV. From my limited experience I would have to say Erin Napier of Home Town on HGTV.

Lynette Jennings. She had a TV show in the past, but is unusual in that she studied architecture as well as design.

ME I want a home that reflects me, quirks and all not a showcase for a designer. I want it to show welcoming, warm and comfortable and that love is in each piece, especially the decor.

Completely agree and I was going to say the same thing. I might get some ideas from others but would never hire a "designer" or "interior decorator" to do my home.

Real Interior Design degrees are a part of the architecture discipline, from the school of architecture. Interior Decorator degrees can come from a trade school or a 2-year college or even from a 4-year university.

Lynette is great. I wish she still had a program. Not a fan of HGTV any longer.

I agree with mspat. I personally think home/interior designers are pointless. 😱 They have a style that is personal to them regardless of what they might say (it's just natural to have your own preferences no offense and I get it) & replicate that in other people's homes.

So if you want your home to reflect someone else's style & tastes, knock yourself out & hire a designer! Want a showpiece that changes with the season? Go for it! It's your money to spend! Me? I'll decorate for MY personal style which is unique to me, myself & I.

Even if we had played it before, @Nonametoday , it's such a fun game for those of us who love design and the truly great practitioners-- thanks for posting the thread.

The late, great Albert Hadley is my top favorite, and I hope I've learned a few little things from analyzing his rooms. I adore tradition, but there's something in me that always wants a soupcon of a modern touch, and he strikes that note with me.

I have a book on him, and rooms he did decades ago look fresh and vibrant to me.

Like you, I love Bunny Williams, probably the current dean of living designers, wouldn't you say? Such a sure touch, pursuit of beauty, and her rooms will stand the test of time too. She's more of a maximalist than I could be, but I admire her expertise so much.

The online site "Homeworthy" just released a new video in which she gives another tour of her fab Connecticut house and gardens, which I'm sure you've seen in other videos.

But if you haven't seen this one which was released only today, it is lengthy and thorough, and Bunny is so charming, and unassuming, you might want to check it out-- google House Tour The Country Home and Gardens of Bunny Williams Youtube, if you haven't come across it yet.

Other favorite designers of mine after Hadley, are John Saladino, Georgina Fairholme, India Hicks, William Yeoward....

@Oznell Yes. I have seen the Homeworthy and the Quintessence vids on Youtube.

I have several of Chas Faudree's books and came to change my mind about him when a friend whose home he had decorated just was overtop French country and I think it was like a cake with too much icing. Nonetheless, he is very talented. I like India Hicks very much.
