Re: Harmonious Open Living Space

When younger enjoying lots of get-together's and parties, I would have enjoyed this open floor plan. It would've been a great way to keep up with what everyone was doing, particularly if stuck in the kitchen, or serving guests, as I often was.

Being so open, it's still light, airy and appears comfortable. So, for the right person, or family, I can see it would be quite appealing.

Re: Harmonious Open Living Space

Have missed you, @jubilant .   Very glad to see you.

This is a wonderful space.  I always go by "mood" first, rather than decor details --  the feeling I get when I first look at something--  and this one is happy, cheerful, airy, uplifting.   A great space to cook, eat and live, with that beautiful light coming in, and the character-filled reclaimed woods that they used.

Always love a deft combo of glass, wood and stone (in the fireplace) like this.  I don't know why that combo is exhilarating, but to me it is!  Reminds me of cathedrals...

Re: Harmonious Open Living Space

I can't stand "open concept". If there is one dish left out on the kitchen island/counter the entire area looks messy. When I went to a very good friend's new home for a dinner party, and everyone moved from the dining table to the Living Room, she was rushing around cleaning with 4O9 to make it sparkling clean. A week later, she told me much she regretted buying the home.

As far as the elements of this space, it works well. I can't imagine how long it took to get such a conducive environment.

Love the feeling of this room.  BEAUTIFUL space!!!

I'd change the rug and hanging lights as well.

@stevieb  Thanks....It's good to be back.

Usually I'm not into open concepts that are open to a kitchen but I did like the open and airiness of this one and found it to be a little different.

@vsm   Thank you. I'm glad to be back.  Things are more peaceful now but I still find myself thinking of running to the phone and calling Mom.

@kaydee50  I agree!  Some open concepts are a little too open for me, but all in all we have a more open concept and we use the whole space in a way that we never did, or never could, in our last house.

It gives you a lighter, more spacious feel, and makes the space and furniture more useful.

And I agree too about the ceiling.  Rustic isn't my thing.

@Oznell   Have missed you, too!  It's good to be back.

When I saw this room it cheered me up. I'm all for glass with a fireplace, too. While I am not big on open concepts....this one spoke to me.  Like you, I think it just "set me in a mood"!
