Hanging Picture on Crown Molding

Have you ever seen a picture hung this high before? Why would you hang it on your crown molding? Simply because you ran out of space? I don’t like that at all.

Regarding the rest of the room:

This room looks messy to me. I like books & collectibles, but they have to be a lot more organized than this. Too much stuff on the floor & piled up everywhere. The animal antlers have to go.

It looks messy because it is messy! Smiley Happy. No I don't care for pictures hung from the molding....just looks off & cluttered.

I agree @wilma .  I like a home to have comfy furniture and a person's "things" they use and enjoy displayed in a pleasing way.  But this space just looks sloppy, with way too much going on.  The picture on the molding looks terrible!

That picture looks out of place.  As far as the rest of the room, there is just too much going on.

Re: Hanging Picture on Crown Molding

I would never hang a painting/picture on molding , number one.  The room needs obviously to be tidied up and organized.  Removing all the clutter on the floor and putting the books on shelves or even leaving a couple for decor would be a good start.  Perhaps the table should be moved to give more space.  Once the clutter is gone and it is more open, you can decide if you need to do anything else.

This looks like slightly controlled chaos!

The one "plus" is the stacks of books aren't falling over!!!

Actually I don't mind that the picture is hung that high.  It looks like the ceilings are more than 8 feet, maybe even 10 feet.  The rest of the room is a disaster.  How can anyone walk around without tripping over something?

@wilma The room makes me itch....haha!

I did see a rehab show where the paintings/pictures were hung on ribbon or twine from nails in the crown molding.  It looked really neat.  I learned that this was commonplace in the old days as walls were made of plaster, and nailing would cause cracks.

I would suffocate in that room.  The picture looks ridiculous hung that close to the ceiling and on the crown molding.  I like pictures at eye level.

Now that just looks silly, IMHO!  Also, I feel the larger picture below it with the grouping are hung slightly too low.  As for the rest of the room, it is definitely cluttered!
