I'd keep it. Maybe it will fit with your décor someday and you'll be glad you kept it.

Susan, I feel your pain! I have over a dozen of one's I've made and my daughters don't have enough sense to understand that one day their children can say, "Your great-grandmother made this".

What's with people? Here's a quick story. Maybe 8 years ago my little sister (in her 40's) worked as a Hospice nurse. I made an afghan for her to take to work, keep it there for when someone is not feeling well. It was all done in the yarn that's called "Crayola". It was like looking into a box of Crayola Crayons. It was just beautiful. Fully machine washable (needed to be).

My sister said when these ill people had family members visiting they wanted to know if (whomever made it) would make some for them. My sister asked me. I said, "No way! I didn't make it for the money. It was just a gesture I wanted to do in honor of my Grandma". Anyone who makes things knows the time and effort that goes into them (I crochet everything).

She said she had to keep an eye on it. Several times family members would actually have it packed in their bags to take home!

I'm sending one to my granddaughter who's 8 years old. I'm very 'connected' with this granddaughter. I know her Mom will teach her to care for it.

People (especially young, meaning 20, 30, 40 year old, have no idea on how important keeping this like this is to a family way down the line.

This is a THROW AWAY SOCIETY. No one know or bothers fixing anything anymore. They just throw it away and get another.

You should have seen me on Sunday when daughter visited with her children (ages 2 through 12) telling her she should take a few of them.

They aren't made in weird colors, pinks, lavender, etc. My one granddaughter took the one that has lavender in it. I told her, "Put it at the foot of your bed for decoration". They are all washable. Some are very intricate.

Makes me sick. If I wanted to sell them, I could.

What's wrong with people in today's society? If you find out, let me know because I'm still shaking my head over other things.

You do beautiful work! Consider donating to a senior center. Or any other charity (animal) where they auction items off.

Thanks, that's a good idea. I have a friend who has won awards knitting and crocheting. I don't do much anymore. I've never been known for my speed.

When someone (a the bank or dentist) has a baby my friend whips out an afghan for me. I tell her if it's a boy or girl and she make it within 2 or so weeks. Amazing!

My friends and associates are so happy to get these (it's an art people don't do anymore).

I have had two people lately who didn't even send me a thank you note. What's wrong with people? There are people who NEVER send out thank you notes. I don't understand that generation. So many things are falling to the wayside. Everything I do or give to my daughters and grandchildren. I always get a little thank you note. It is the right thing to do.

It takes two minutes (and a stamp). Some of the things I cherrish the most are letters and pictures from my children and grandchildren.

what a beautiful afghan!

I happen to love the colors. I decorate with reds, navy and turquoise so I'm sure someone else would fall in love with it too.

Afghans need to be used. I hope you are able to find someone who can treasure it.

Please keep your treasure! Use it to cover up on a chilly night, or for taking a nap, even if you don't leave it out to see. You never know when you might need it, and since it is precious to your heart, its worth keeping.

That is a beautiful afghan. I made quite a few myself back "in the day". I gave some away and have some stored in my house and in my garage. We don't use any of them. Truth be told, they are not the softest of blankets. I would have a hard time parting with any of them because they took so much time to make.

Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else. Margaret Mead
