HR Pumpkin Luminary

My HR Pumpkin luminary has been on 8 hour timer mode for 17 or 18 days now. When it came on tonight, it started a bizarre continuous fast flashing. I was thinking great, just great. I really like it and was afraid I would have to return it. I put new batteries in, and thankfully it is now back to normal flicker.

I was using CVS batteries which I don't find all that great, so maybe others will have longer battery life than I did. I guess I would've gotten around 1 month on 4 hour timer mode. Has this crazy flashing happened to yours?
