Wasn't going to, but at the last minute, popped over to Hobby Lobby today, to check out their 40% off and 50% off items.

Some of these would be great gifts, should have checked before Christmas!   A few cute things, many on sale, some not --

This is a "yarn bowl"--  knitters and crocheters put their yarn in it, and then pull the yarn through the slot as they work.  The bee and flower motif is cheerful.

The whole reason I went, was to see if I could supplement my little stash of their cosmos faux flower, my favorite of theirs for its realism and "messy" beauty.  I got two more sprays of the cream, and it was on sale, yay, for $4.79 a stem.

They had some pretty art prints, florals, still lifes, moody landscapes--

This is 50% off, now $23.49

They had everything from big abstracts, down to very small portraits.  This small framed sketch would look nice sitting on a desk or nightstand.  I would just "Rub n Buff" the frame, maybe, with gilded wax to give it a bit of a gleam:

Their strawberry dish collection caught my eye:

Sunflower collection:

They also had other random flower bowls, in yummy colors like this lavender:

Rooster pitcher, I think they have two sizes of this cutie:

I suppose the following could be considered more "wintry" stuff, but I always like boxes.  The black wood and metal boxes that look like little trunks, would be great on a coffee table to corral remotes, and other stuff:

Teeny box below, ivory.  I love boxes, have a few vintage carved Polish and Asian ones.  These at HL might not be "refined", but still fun.

I try to check out the glass at HL.  Vintage is more my preference, but there are a few there that have the 'look' of old pressed glass, like this bud vase--

Comes in the amber above, or a pretty blue.

I believe their remaining Christmas decor is 60% off.

I like those dark wood boxes with trunk details, but I do not need them. 😉

@Oznell

Thank you for posting this, I love those cosmos and bought them the last time you posted about them.

I'm going to pick up more of the white ones now that they're on sale and I'm reminded of them. I agree, they look so real with a "messy "wild" beauty. yay!

It looks like they have such nice stuff on sale right now, I'm excited to go. I love those vintage-ie florals with the black backgrounds and that pencil portrait is darling and would look good with rub and buff (good idea), I'm going to look for that too and it may make it's way in my basket with my cosmos. I'm definitely leaving DH home. haha

I also particularly like that lavender flower bowl, wood boxes and the vintage glass vase....all so pretty!

So much to see...I could spend hours in there.Woman Happy

Me too, @GingerHead !  It IS a bit disconcerting that they're leaning "spring" already, but I'm always ready to look at wares, regardless of season...

Good time to pick up more cosmos while the sale is on. Like the hydrangea you were referencing in another thread, it always seems "refreshing" in a room, as opposed to more 'formal' flowers.

Marshall's is in the same little mini- mall as Hobby Lobby, and I swung through there too.  Was astonished at how little decor stock they have right now.  I used to go in there and happily cruise around like I do with HL, but there's so little to get excited about.  Hope the chain isn't in trouble.  Might be just our Marshall's though.

@Oznell

We don't have any Marshall's close by but I have noticed that our 2 local Ross's are very lacking in the home decor departments as well.

The one that's closest was so empty about a year ago that I asked the cashier if they were closing and she said no. I haven't been to that one since and the one that's in the little Mall connected to our HL is a little better but the last couple of times I've gone there was not much and what they had looked like it had been picked over.

Sad to see all these Brick and Mortar stores going out of business....not that these are but it seems like it....

On a happier note, our TJMaxx and further away Home Goods are always fun to browse and their shelves seem to be runneth over with fun treasures!
