Sarah Richardson and Tommy are the best. I love how they design. Candace is another favorite of mine.

I take my inspiration from both of them.

The weird thing is they have many good shows on their Canadian version of HGTV, but they rarely transfer them down here. Sarah Richardson has a new series up there called "Real Potential" that should be good. I believe we're still one or two houses behind on her "Sarah's House" series.

Hi GARDENMAN,

If you have a channel called CREATE (it has old PBS shows) including some gardening ....

I miss the gardening shows. Now, they might as well drop the 'G' and call it HTV.

There used to be a sewing show called Sew Perfect by Sandra Betzina. It inspired me enough that I went out and bought my first sewing machine.

So agree!! Sarah Richardson is so talented; brings fresh ideas too. Her remake of her cottage (on an island??) was outstanding.

I have her as a fave on FB but it's not the same as seeing her on TV. Miss her!!

All their best shows seem to have originated in Canada.

My favorite show on HGTV of any of them was Property Shop with Tatianna, I loved her. I think ? that was a Canadian show. She moved to LA and after that I think they stopped filming.

I also really like (still) Property Virgins. Another of my favorites was House Hunters International.

I think they need some new shows, or bring back some of the older shows that were popular.

Sometimes there is NOTHING on tv and whatever is on HGTV is better than watching anything else.

Their programming isn't what it used to be and it certainly lacks variety. I don't mind the occasional real estate show, enjoy some of the house 'flip' shows, but they really don't have anything anymore that's focused on decor and especially on decor that isn't gimmicky... I also really enjoy Sarah Richardson and they haven't featured anything new from her in ages. Moreover, almost every 'after' room featured, regardless of show, tends to have the same feel, with the possible exception of rooms Hillary does, and the 'style' HGTV employs isn't really mine. Not a big fan of Love it or List it, but do like her work... As for the flea market and re-purposing shows, no. Just no. I have no desire to make an end table out of an old bicycle, or a chair out of a sled, but thanks anyway...

I loved the show Tipical Mary Ellen.

I would watch a show like that if they would make another.

My favorite show on DIY is Rehab Addict, the reruns are shown on HGTV.

This is JMHO but I think what happened with the decorating shows is they went from showing the normal decor styles that most viewers used into this far out and bizarre decorating---putting half chairs on walls, pasting drinking cups on the ceiling, making lamps out of coffee filters---The Antonio Project and Myles Of Styles are two examples--and perhaps it turned off viewers----- perhaps HGTV mistakenly took it as the decor shows had run their cycle..... so they started with more real estate shows mostly imported from Canada so cheaper production costs...anyway, just my own personal opinion ...

You can see lots of comments some even going back 4 to 5 years until now complaining about HGTV's programming yet they just give us more of the same..they are now tying their ratings into what the real estate market is doing, which means they aren't even considering home decorating.....{#emotions_dlg.thumbdown}
