This is the 2nd week (airs on Tues)
4 ladies from 4 different shows redo the same model of home (new development in Ca)
I like to see what each do to same space. In the end, They are trying to increase the home’s value the most.
(Side note it takes place in Santa Clarita where a fire was recently, this was taped months ago)

Re: HGTV show Rock The Block

I have been watching it...it's a nice change from what they show over and over and over....but.....it seems like such a waste of  otherwise decent homes.... to rip out everything and rebuild.

..most of the things they do...as an average homeowner (me) I could never afford what they are doing.  I'd like to see them do something less expensive and not rip apart 4 homes, what a waste in my opinion.

Re: HGTV show Rock The Block

I'm watching that. Just watched the Kitchen episode yesterday while DH was home. We like Mike Holmes. Wish he would come makeover our house. LOL!!!

I knew all of them would do white kitchens which I like but don't want one. Can't believe LeAnn took out the upper cabinets. The kitchen looked a little bare. I also did not care for her concrete floors. Mike was right that she is looking for a specific buyer.

Re: HGTV show Rock The Block

I agree about the ripping apart new homes. I wish they started with bare homes. I liked Leeann’s bathroom (first wk)
I’m enjoying a different type of show from network.
I checked Leeann’s Instagram she had a baby and is remodeling an old home in LA for herself (she’s from PA).
I like to see different decorating ideas from them.
Erin from Hometown posted pics from her remodeled master bath.

Re: HGTV show Rock The Block

We DVR'd this show and watched the first episode so far.  I like it, it's different.  I like Mina.  I also think Alison Victoria's contractor is her ace in the hole - he is extremely talented with carpentry.

Now that I know they did the kitchen episode, I may watch that one next lol.

@Mom2Dogs

My husband is a builder, and can do anything.  We built our current home together...every square inch.

He refuses to watch these shows saying they are just stupid and wasteful.  The whole tearing out/knocking down thing is just annoying to me.

I agree, start with an empty space.  Even then, he claims most of them don't know what they are doing.  Since we don't see all the details, it tends to look easy.

Having built my own home, I can tell you, it's not -- and it takes a lot longer than anyone can imagine.

I know it's entertainment, but unrealistic most of the time.

@Witchy Woman .....I always thought it would be 'fun' to build a house...but I am certain it would be stressful....I am sure you enjoy your home, that YOU built!

DH is not handy at all, almost everything is hired out...we are struggling with a plumbing fixture...for a week, so I am using his bathroom, ugh....today is the last try, then we hire a professional.

His very small bathroom is getting a make over, new Onyx shower and door, flooring and stool.....I'm struggling just getting the existing vanity to coordinate with the onyx product and new floor.

Wish it was over already so I could download them all at once...I'm a binge watcher.

I've pretty much given up on HGTV. Nothing they offer is, to me, as good as what they've offered in the past. Most of the finished products, regardless of the show, have a lot in common. Likewise the magazine. I guess their primary aesthetic just isn't mine and I'm not all that interested in DIY or 'upcycling'. I'm also so over contest and competition shows. There are too many of them.
