@coffee drinker Yes I seal all my granite countertops myself. Kitchen and bathrooms. I use Granite Gold brand of Sealer. I also use their daily use cleaner and also their polish. Once a year I seal it. You apply it a few times, drying in between coats. I don't use the counters for a 24 hour period to completely dry it. They are virtually maintenance free.
Way overkill with your sealing process. Unnessary to seal with multiple coats and you never need to let it dry for 24 hours? It dries when you wipe it with a soft cloth, boom, done. I put all my things back on my counter right away and am about my business.
No not overkill @ID2 I went to a granite query and picked out all our granite and spoke to the owners on how to care for it. You are not supposed to get the granite wet after you use the sealer on it. Directions say so on the product and I was told this by the owners. My granite looks brand new all these years later.
